So, for our Forever 21 pick this week, we decided to provide you with the perfect “weddings and parties” dress, one that will still give the bride her day, but make you pretty darn close to the belle of the ball. This  Floral Bubble Hem Halter Dress, $22.80, is a flattering cut for those of us who have one, or multiple complexes in the following areas: arms, boobs, tummy, and thighs. The slightly full skirt and vivacious floral print give a nod to the 1950s, so style it in a modern way with oversized earrings and some round-toe pumps or peep-toes.

InStyle Hair Issue/John Frieda Root Awakening Launch Party

I was greeted in the penthouse bar area immediately by a delicious mojito and several dresses from the exquisite fall 2009 Marchesa collection. These dresses were true beauties, and I would love to wear one of these to my next big event (hint hint, Marchesa!). The party was packed with celebs, including Ali Larter, Fabiola Beracasa in some fabulous, oversized eyeglasses, Shannen Doherty, and Olivia Palermo. I met up with fellow bloggers from shefinds and anewmode, while taking everything in, including devouring the delicious risotto balls (which I succinctly dropped the garnish on my blouse and shoe)! I’m looking forward to testing out the new John Frieda Root Awakening products that were given out, and already perused the new InStyle Hair issue.  Although I feel I have a decent amount of expertise in beauty, I would classify myself as hair novice, and felt that the articles in this spring 2009 Hair issue were actually quite helpful to a “hair dummy” like me.  The “Change your part, Change your look” and “Amazing Hair Color at Home” features will prove to be helpful. Enjoy the party pics, and keep your eyes peeled for the new InStyle Hair issue!

Shopping Your Closet: 3 Ways to Wear a White Blouse

As a college student gearing up for a summer internship or office job, you might not have a very expansive work wardrobe. Maybe your parents footed the bill for a few new professional outfits, but after the first week of work you might start feeling like you’ve run out of things to wear.

One thing you most likely own is  a white blouse, like this one from Gap. This top is so basic, there are a million ways to wear it. The good news? You may already have a couple of the other items in your closet too! Here are three ways to wear a white blouse (Click on the pictures to get all the shopping info!):

1) With a vest – While it’s still chilly, put a sweater vest on over your white blouse. It can be basic (black or grey) if your office is conservative, or add a pop of color (like blue or pink) if you want. Cinch your waist with a skinny belt to make it a little more fashion forward. When it gets warmer (soon, I hope!), pick up a cropped vest and wear it open for a sophisticated, cool look.

2) Under a sheath dress – If you’re worried that a sleeveless dress might be inappropriate for the office, wear a white blouse underneath it!

3. Tucked in – Tucking a white blouse into a high-waisted skirt or pair of pants makes you look effortlessly chic and sophisticated. This is a great look for the weekend, too – pair it with a pair of trouser jeans to do casual without looking sloppy.
