So, for our Forever 21 pick this week, we decided to provide you with the perfect “weddings and parties” dress, one that will still give the bride her day, but make you pretty darn close to the belle of the ball. This Floral Bubble Hem Halter Dress, $22.80, is a flattering cut for those of us who have one, or multiple complexes in the following areas: arms, boobs, tummy, and thighs. The slightly full skirt and vivacious floral print give a nod to the 1950s, so style it in a modern way with oversized earrings and some round-toe pumps or peep-toes.

It’s difficult to recall a time in my life when I wasn’t familiar with the name “Philip Pelusi” a popular staple of haircare in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, Mr. Pelusi owns a hefty number of salons in the area, and my Mom, as well as some of my friend’s parents, boast that Mr. Pelusi himself did their hair in the 70s. Now more than just a household name in Pittsburgh, Philip Pelusi has garnered national attention with his incredible line of haircare products and innovative Tela Salon in New York City’s Meatpacking District.
I’ve always been a fan of the Philip Pelusi products, known for a strong aromatic scents that are quite addictive, and accomplishing the impossible (for me, that would be giving volume to my baby fine hair). His new line of P2 and Tela products continue to impress — for example the p2 refres H air is undefinable; it’s not quite a dry shampoo, not quite a full-on styling product, but gives a little extra oomph to a variety of hair types as a touch-up for later in your day. The new Tela Products are certified organic and focus on well-being and maintenance of your hair’s health combating damage and treating a variety of hair issues such as split ends, frizzies, over-processing and more. Currently the items are only offered at Philip Pelusi’s NYC Tela Salon, and exclusively at Barneys New York, but we have a feeling that once the word spreads about how great they are, people will demand that their local beauty apothecary carries them!

I’m a big fan of C. O. Bigelow Apothecaries, so I was very excited to test out their new Vitamin Boost Gel Cleanser and Vitamin Boost Toner, and as usual with their products, I was not disappointed. I’m one of those people whose skin is really bothered by most facial cleansers. Every morning and night after washing my face, I find myself having to apply tons of moisturizer to counteract how dry and flakey my skin gets. That may be a little TMI, but I’m supplying the details so you’ll know how happy I was when after using the Vitamin boost Gel Cleanser, I didn’t have to apply any extra lotion. My skin felt clean and perfectly balanced moisture-wise. Two additional things I like about C. O. Bigelow’s Vitamin Cleanser and Toner are:
1) they’re not tested on animals, and
2) they contain Bamboo and Ginseng extracts which give them this wonderfully fresh, clean, and tangy smell, not to mention an energizing feeling!
That being said, if you’re someone who’s very affected by smells, I’d save this invigorating cleanser-toner duo for the morning, when you need a boost of energy, as opposed to the evening, when lavender or some other scent might put your mind more at rest. Overall, a big thumbs up to the new C.O. Bigelow cleansers and toners. Also worth a shout out from their list of new products are the Acai Repair Night Cream (your skin will never be thirsty again), Rice & Bamboo Gentle Dermabrasion (it buffs, it exfoliates, it’s amazing!), and the Power Berry Mask (seriously better than a spa facial).
*The products mentioned above are available at C.O. Bigelow Apothecary Shops, Bath & Body Works Stores and bathandbodyworks.com.

Usually I strive to reduce my “getting ready time” in the morning, as I am not an early bird and tend to always be on the cusp of being on time or within 15 minutes late. Limiting my product use has become quite essential, which recently has led me to combine my moisturizer and foundation with a tinted moisturizer, and skip curling my eyelashes altogether. I’ve tried primers before, and noticed that makeup artists frequently use them, however I never aknowledged the necessity of one, perhaps because I never used a truly exceptional one. I had the opportunity recently to try the new Givenchy Mister Mat Mattifying Foundation Primer ($30, Sephora), and I’ve got to tell you — it rocked my world! The weightless primer has a gel-like substance, but goes on and melts into the skin almost like a talc. It really evens out your skins surface, and made some red breakout spots around my chin less noticeable. My skin tend to look softer and more seamless than normal, but the real test was when I applied powder to my face: without the primer it seemed to sit more on top of my skin, making it quite evident that my face was on the dry side and I definitely was wearing powder. The Mister Mat Primer can certainly be accredited with a smoother blending of the powder with my face, and now I know that I can never go back to life without primer, especially this one! Now I’ve just got to figure out what to cut out of my morning regimen – I think I can live without those four squirts of perfume!
