This fall 2010 couture season no one does it better than Dior. John Galliano brought the house back to theatricality with his high drama, literally, in the ‘about to bloom’ collection – a decidedly new take on the floral motif with hair pieces resembling flower buds about to bloom, along with the yards and yards of colorful fabric and taken from nature dramatic eye makeup hues. Truly Galliano fulfilled a couturier’s dream – and proved that even in the fall, flowers can blossom.

Sure its huge – four levels and 91,257-square-feet — but I have to give it credit for two things: it’s spacious, and it’s organized. Forever 21’s new flagship in the heart of Times Square (located in the old Virgin Megastore space) opened the last week in June and upon my return from Italy, it was my first stop!
The facts:
hours: 8a.m. to 2 a.m.
fitting rooms: 151
cash registers: 32
employees: 500
Part of what keeps it so well organized is the store-within-store concept that it has executed at this flagship location; the company’s diferent brands (Love 21, Heritage 1981, etc) each have their own section as well as respective jewelry selection, which makes the translation from online to store shopping, and vice versa, MUCH easier. I saw women and men of all ages here (this location is one of the few carries the mens line) and believe it or not, there weren’t piles and piles of strewn clothes lying about – it was actually a tranquil atmosphere, minus the pumping music. All in all – great exucution and visual display — if you can bare walking through the throngs of tourists in Times Square, add this to your to shopping list!
