James Coviello F/W 2009 Presentation Review
Held in a town house in Greenwich Village, the James Coviello Fall 2009 presentation was a spectacular compilation of eclectic prints and rich fabrics. The presentation was a weaving walk-through between two different rooms, each with a decidedly different look, yet the similarity found within the garment details made the entire collection flow. In the first room, models stood on a platform wearing jewel tones of green, blue, and gold in a variety of luxe fabrics. In the second room, models again stood on a platform, only this time in neutral hues with splashes of vibrant color in all the right places. Between the two rooms one can definitely identify the core elements for Coviello’s fall season: flower appliqué detail, a retro-glamour vibe, and creative layering. The overall aesthetic could be best described as eclectic bohemian, suitable for none other than that elusive West Village fashionista. Departing from the townhouse mid-afternoon, it was most certainly the clothes, not the champagne and chocolate strawberries that left us feeling giddy for another fabulous fall season.

Morgane Le Fay Fall 2009 Collection
A chic, modern twist on a circus tent set the stage for Morgane Le Fay’s Fall 2009 collection. With Arait riding boots and relaxed, braided hair, the equestrian-goddess models perfectly displayed Liliana Casabal’s latest looks. The light, airy dresses were both simple yet unexpected. From flowing gowns to wool jackets, each garment had a unique twist. Casabal paid special attention to detail by executing pleating, layering, bows, feathers, and floral embroidery. Sheer dresses and skirts played between suggestive and innocent as they revealed hoop skirt underlays and of course the full female form. To add a bit of punch, the models wore oversized Chewbacca-inspired mittens and furry accessories. All in all, the collection was elegant, cohesive and wearable, although slips would be advised when wearing the more sheer pieces in public.
