BCBG MaxAzria showed us that neons are still important, sequins are still kicking, and asymetricality will be HUGE! Max can’t help but be influenced by some Herve Leger bondage inspiration, but we like the chance to by into the brand at the BCBG price point.
Elie Tahari knows how to dress the sophisticated, savvy gal without going overboard in bling. We salute you Elie, for even making light, baggy denim look chic and refined.
Monique L’Huillier was inspired by the Masia Warriors for this collection; only the talented Monique can take such a masculine theme and translate it to the most utterly elegant evening looks. Stay tuned for my exclusive interview with the designer!
Lorick: Abigail Lorick’s lovely presentation showed us that she can design for today, tomorrow, and practically all seasons with looks that translate to a variety of settings and ages. Very impressed – Lorick is here to stay!
Vena Cava: Why doesn’t want to be a Vena Cava girl with the subtle subversive theme of punk and grunge, complete with acid wash prints and oversized safety pin detailing.

Nicholas K/Whitney Eve/Mara Hoffman: What a terrific idea to cover 3 designers in one show under the tents! Although it did run alittle long, the three shows meshed well together, from Nicholas K’s girls that are not afraid to use masculine dressing to their advantage, the sugar and spice of Whitney Port’s collection Whitney Eve, and Mara Hoffman’s incredibly prints and artfully crafted silhouettes.

Ports 1961: this could very well be the best collection to date; Tia Cibani knew exactly what the real ladies wanted for spring, and delivered – from easy silhouettes to a light, breezy color palette.
Rosa Cha: kept it relatively simple this season with some colorblocking, incredibly lovely weaving, black and white stripes, some neon and mesh overlays.

Via CollegeCandy.com:
Like most of you, I am a (recently graduated but not willing to accept it) college student who would rather dish out money for fashion than food. But sometimes, like in a recession…or when I’m really hungry, that doesn’t work out so well. A girl’s gotta eat (and look fabulous), right?
Which is why I was having some serious issues lately. You see, I am in love with the whole high-waisted skirt look that I see on celebs like Lauren Conrad and Amanda Bynes. It’s slimming and hot and I loooove it. But I can’t justify spending a good chunk of change on a skirt that will be out of style in 6 months when I have 10 perfectly fine skirts lining my closet.
So I decided to figure out a way to turn what I got into what I want. Turns out, it’s not that hard to make your own high-waisted skirt. Even for crafty rejects like myself.
1. Grab an old, longer skirt that you don’t wear anymore because it makes you look like a mom. Put it on.
2. Find a fun belt and cinch the skirt at your natural waistline.
3. Grab hold of the bottom of one side of the skirt and twist it up and under the belt on the same side.

4. Wrap the twisted end of the skirt around the belt so that it lies flat.
5. Use a safety pin and secure the bottom, to prevent any unsightly moments (think Paris or Britney..or Lindsay). Make sure to pin it underneath so the safety pin is hidden.
6. Repeat on the other side of the skirt and the back for a more bubble-shaped skirt. Otherwise, leave it as it is.
There you go: a trendy, leggy, high-waisted skirt. Recycling has never looked so hot.

Limits are being stretched…up to our thighs. This season the must-haves in footwear are over-the-knee boots, ever since they were spotted on the runways of Marc by Marc Jacobs to Yigal Azrouёl and celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Kate Moss, and Hayden Panettiere. While the trend is exploding, the trick is to keep the look classy and not trashy, especially if you’re buying a pair with a heel over 2”. To offset the exuding sex appeal of these boots and make them more day appropriate (and less Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman), layer a pair of opaque tights or jeans underneath, and keep your top half relatively covered with something like a Shaker-Stitch Cowl-Neck Sweater , $59.50 from Express. Also keep an editing eye when accessorizing because these boots are the statement piece of any outfit — guaranteed.
Our Picks:
1) Women’s Turbo Wedge Boot, $49.90 by Chinese Laundry
2) Tripin Boots, $89.99 by Chinese Laundry
3) Key Boot ,$59.50 from alloy.com
4) GUESS ‘Rumala’ Over the Knee Boot , $199.95 by Guess
