Spurr S/S 2010
All too often men’s runway looks are overshadowed by colorful out-of-this world creations for women. So we were refreshed to finally get the scoop on spring fashions for men (and gaze at a parade of male models, of course), at the Spurr presentation. Simon Spurr’s latest line featured tailored suits in a confection of hues including pink and yellow. Collared shirts were neatly tucked into tight;y belted pants that were rolled up at the bottom; perfect for a day on the yacht. Must-have accessories? A flower on the lapel and our favorite—a European carry-all.

Generra S/S 2010
Crisp and casual was the message at the Generra spring presentation under new creative direction. For men we saw a very similar color palette and style to Spurr, but the collection was all about the shorts—hitting just above the knee. A high-waisted skirt paired with a chambray shirt or a floral blouse were our picks for women. Designer Swaim Hutson was definitely paying homage to the ‘90s with light-wash denim pieces, pleats, and loose fits.

Designer Austin Sherbanenko used this season’s latest collection as a platform to condemn our dirty industrial world. The Odyn Vovk S/S 2010 line of tough leather jackets, vests, and exaggerated hooded trenches were drenched in black and cemented gray as a nod to our world’s environmental demolition. Also seen through the collection is Odyn Vovk’s signature wolf head that Sherbanenko incorporates into his line as symbolism to the strength, power of self and courage that his collection possesses.

It was day seven of fashion week, and I was running on very little sleep, lots of espresso, and tons of stress, however Altjana Banja of Dex New York managed to work her artistry and make me look absolutely stunning with both hair and makeup. She had done her magic on me before for the Style Coalition’s Don’t Shop photo and video shoot, which got a response from my boyfriend that I looked absolutely amazing, and he hates when I wear makeup. Some stylists and makup artists from Dex New York were kindly offering their services at The Daily Suite at AKA Hotel, using the Dex Cosmetics line of mineral makeup, and I can’t tell you how glad I was to have stopped by and ran into Altjana! Below are some close-ups of her work; she also works freelance so if you love what she did for me (how could you not?) check out her site, AltjanaStyle.com to inquire about availability and rates. Thanks again Altjana!
