It’s not a bad idea to go slightly Goth with your look for Spring 2010, according to several designers who rocked the runways this season, veering away from bright colors and light sentiments associated with the warmer months. The looks range from “Queen of the Night” to “Avant Garde Vamp Chic”.
Our favorite Goth-inspired runway looks:

Rick Owens
Gareth Pugh
Limi Feu
Rodarte

We all have that black top that goes with everything, but sometimes it can be just boring. So instead of reaching for the plain black tee this fall, look no further than the Draped Overlay Knit Top, $15.80 (also available in white). Oozing of sophistication with the gathered bow and draped chiffon its sure to bring a little bit of class to any outfit.

Every once in a while I come across something non-fashion related that I know FPD readers would want to know about. Such is the case with the The Endangered Species Print Project (ESPP), an art collaboration between esteemed Chicago-based artists Molly Schafer and Jenny Kendler, that offers limited-edition art prints of critically endangered species. The number of prints available corresponds with the remaining animal or plant populations, a reminder of how precious these creatures are and crucial that we do our part to protect them. For example, only 30 Amur Leopards remain in the wild, so for this particular design, only 30 prints will be made. All proceeds from ESPP are donated to conservation organizations; a different organization, whose mission is to the ensure the survival of the specific animal, is selected for each print. The website also features information about each species, and ESPP will continue to offer additional prints on a monthly basis, including works by guest artists.

Currently available on ESPP are: The Panamanian Golden Frog, The Vancouver Island Marmot, The Seychelles Sheath-tailed Bat, and The Indri Lemur. The charming prints, are a combination of research and quirk, making the limited edition prints quite hard to resist. The prints make really unique gifts and serve a great cause, so get yours before they disappear!
ESPP has recently been featured on the home pages of Juxtapoz Magazine, Cool Hunting, Design Milk, Pikaland, OMG Posters!, and was written up in the Sierra Club’s blog: The Green Life.
P.S.-If you’re in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, check out the gallery opening featuring ESPP artist Molly Schafer tonight!
