Designers Billy Reid, Michael Bastian, and Yigal Azrouel, among other fashion designer legends, have taken inspiration from the childhood dream doll, Ken, and has now turned him into the Ultimate Dream Date. Standing doll-like and plastically perfect atop blue square platforms were six male models, aka “Kens,” with each dressed by the designers involved and styled to represent different perfect dates (i.e. the “Concert Date”, the “Beach Date”, the “Winter Date”, the “Formal Date”, the “Picnic Date”, and the “Movie Date”). Two other suit-and-tie-clad beaus were also positioned with a full bouquet of pink roses and a heart pin standing in front of an apologetic heart, pleading “Barbie, I want you back!” dressed to inspire a heart-rendering, romantic reconciliation after the infamous break between the doll-duo back in 2004. The Christie’s hosted event was a fun break from fashion week, filled with beautiful flowers, beautiful cupcakes, and of course “Kens” wearing charming outfits, ready for a date.

Allegri, an Italian outerwear brand, made its first appearance in New York City at Fashion Week this season. Allegri was the only outdoor show and revealed their stunning Fall/Winter 2011 collection amidst images of the brand’s history, and Italy’s top selling Allegri umbrellas carefully suspended from above. The looks Allegri presented were innovative, crisp, and were made from some of the most technologically advanced outerwear fabrics available – Techno Wool, Water Repellent Moleskin, Teflon Flannel, and even Waterproof Cashmere (yes, you read that right!). Allegri is a company that prides itself on creative craftsmanship while keeping a keen eye on the technological advances within the textile industry. Their first debut in New York? We would have to say a for-certain success.
