Independent Fashion Bloggeres LIVE BLOGGING! Sponsored by IFB and Windows 7
[for WAY better pics check out TheGreyestGhost]
I am sooo honored to be part of the IFB conference and blogging live right now for Windows 7 on a 1/3 pound Sony tiny tiny tiny laptop sponsored by Windows 7 !
5:30pm
We started a little late, but its off to a fabulous start! The Future of Blogging panel is a star-studded blogger affair, and Tavi just admitted that she doesn’t have a laptop or phone with internet on it!
5:34pm
Still getting used to the capabilities of Windows 7 and the Sony computer — taking in so many good quotes right now – basically everyone on the panel agrees that there is no overnight success-most people have said that they have spent years on their blogs – NOT an overnight success! This is definitely the panel that everyone is waiting for — Tavi is so poised and thoughtful –
5:41pm
Still talking about bloggers vs editors- Tavi is saying that this whole ‘Tavi is sitting in front of me, I cant see around her hat’ got so blown out of proportion!!!!
5:45pm
The shake and toggle features on this Windows 7 comp are super cool – definitely going to miss this feature when I got back to my MAC notebook at home!!! My thoughts are that the editors fear the unknown, which essentially is the whole online frontier!
5:50pm
Tavi was referenced on the show ‘The Family Guy”, so great! She ismarc extremely modest fame– ‘I mean I’m not giving concerts every night, or on a talk show’ Bryanboy is super flattered by Marc Jacobs he says, but wants to be more than a bag! Tavi is totally rocking this conference – she is so profound!
5:53pm
Talking about the stigma that comes with getting free products: Lauren at Fashionisa – ‘We are all writers that happen to work online.’ Fashionista is talking about standards in journalism and blogging – checking sources, etc. Tavi kinda has a Jody Foster voice -just realize why it sounds so familiar!
5:58pm
Now the subject has shifted to the term ‘blog’ and if it’s negative, positive — what it really means! Britt & Lauren from Fashionista are talking about reader comments, how Fashionista is a news source, and it’s hard sometimes not to jump in on vicious blog comments.
6:02pm
Talking about negative comments – someone in the audience asked if the panelists read their comments — so far everyone says that they read their comments, and respond.
6:05pm
OOh! great question – someone in the audience wants to know the marketing strategies, in increasing traffic. Tavi says ‘I like other blogs, I had a lot to say so maybe some other blogs started coming to my site. “Blogroll-the more you have, the less each one (links) means.” Bryanboy is talking about why he leads blogs- to be entertained — Tavi says its important to write about what you care about, because other people will like it too!
6:10pm
Talking about blogs that are needy, just spamming bloggers posts in the comments –Lauren says the ‘cream rises to the top’ — if you have something that no one else is offering and you are really loving it – people will come to you (round of applause).
6:10pm
Someone just asked – ‘what is the future of fashion blogging?’ – to Susie and Fashionista.com. The answer is that no one really knows – ‘It will change, it will grow, but it’s not going away’ – Lauren from Fashionista.
Thanks again to IFB and Windos 7!

Fashion Week F/W 2010: Erro and Rachel Comey

Erro
For her second collection for Erro, fashion’s new rocker, Anna Larson, flashed out thirteen female warriors all clad in black and looking ready to kill (we just mean aesthetically, don’t worry!). Working with an entirely black palette, Larson delved into a wide variety of fabrics, straddling between gothic ferocity and feminine tenderness. The Erro assassin was armored in metal-looking corsets (bulletproof, too, perhaps?), over-the-knee boots, shoulder pads and striated leggings. But amidst the gladiator gear were also knit leggings, fur, ragged tops. The result was a sexy, gothic warrior dressed to slash and seduce. Even if she isn’t your cup of tea, you’ll still find the collection’s individual pieces alluring and its skillful mix and match inspiring.

Rachel Comey
At Rachel Comey, the mood was vastly different — lighter, cozier, and despite the vestiges of the blizzard the night before, warmer. Prints have always been her forte, so as anyone would suspect, they were everywhere in the collection: on high-waisted pants, between plain stripes of bright colors, on see-through pants beneath cocktail dresses, on satin blouses. Also typical of Comey was the vintage influence, as seen from her usual quirky layering. Whether you’ll be taking her cue to pair oxfords with socks or layer a plain sweater with a printed collared shirt, you’re bound to find some funky, head-turning prints from this collection to brighten up your dreary winter.
