Now that the FTC has officially come out with the guidelines for bloggers (set to go in effect December 1st, 2009), there has been quite a bit of talk circulating around the blogosphere; the Independent Fashion Bloggers have dedicated two articles to the subject (FTC Puts Its Foot Down on Blogger Freebies FTC Ruling: An Ethical Double Standard?) and Fashion Pulse Daily is curious as to what the readers think of all of this. Our motto has always been that transparency is best, and if we get something for free and write about, you will most certainly know that! We feel that pretty much all of the reputable blogs that we read and work with execute the same practices, but enough about us: what do you think about the FTC ruling?

Punch It Up with the Perfect Poncho
From our friends at thefind.com:

Ponchos are making an appearance again this fall in the form of chunky knits. Think handmade, warm and cozy. Many are a fusion of sweater and poncho that button up the front, making them easier to layer. You’ll see hoods, pockets and zippers as added features as well. Look for all wool styles made with thick yarns and lots of texture in the knitted design. Or try a lighter poncho on for size; it is more like a wrap and much more fluid than chunkier styles. Go for a neutral like gray or brown that can be paired with a variety of items in your wardrobe.
On the chunkier side, from Haute Hippie is the Chunky Wool Poncho (top left, $495.00 at Nordstrom.com) with classic overtones and a cable-knit design. It has a full zip-front closure, pockets to keep your hands warm and a slouchy hood at the back. From Stella McCartney is a pricey and luxe Zip-Front Boucle Poncho (top right, $1,685 at Neiman Marcus) with oversized buttons button as an accent on the cape sleeves. The poncho is an Alpaca/linen/polyamide/wool blend and made in Italy. Helmut Lang has also done a version, all in a minimalist style of course! Helmut Lang Knit Poncho (bottom right, $260 at Saks.com) is an alpaca/merino/polyamide blend and is super soft as well as warm. This poncho also features a generous hood. From Elizabeth and James is the Olivia Poncho, (bottom left, $545 at Shopbop.com) made of moleskin this is the perfect piece for layering. Pair with a cozy cashmere turtleneck and jeans for a luxe weekend casual look.

Modcloth ‘Meet the Buyer’, & Incredible Sale – Going on Now!
Have you ever dreamed of a career as a fashion buyer? If so, you’re in luck, because retro online clothing boutique ModCloth launched a new feature earlier this week called Be the Buyer. With Be the Buyer, you, the customer, can pick what future clothing designs you’d like to see available for purchase on ModCloth.
It’s simple, too; just be sure to check back often and vote “pick it” or “skip it.” If a design you picked gets enough votes, the item will be produced and available for purchase online – you’ll also be notified by email so that you can buy your favorite new design ASAP! There are tons of things to choose from already, so get voting – and pick wisely! Some of our picks? I, for one, am hoping this awesome blazer and colorful sleeveless dress make the final cut:

ModCloth is also currently hosting their biggest sale yet – select products (there’s hundreds of them!) are 50-80% off. It only runs through Thursday, so get shopping now! There’s a lot of awesome items to choose from, so if you’re having trouble narrowing it down, we especially love these…

Badlands Romper; $21.99 & Heart of the Ocean Dress; $39.99

Sedona Nights Skirt; $8.99 & The Staccato Boot, $67.99
