[Donna & Violet of MyItThings.com, Joi Wheatley of Ideeli.com and me!]
Last night was the Independent Fashion Bloggers Dress Up Soiree, organized by the lovely Jennine Tamm of theCoveted and moderated by Jordana Bruner of Clutch22. There was a great turnout with tons of bloggers, a great panel discussion with members including Susie Bubble from Style Bubble, Crosby Noricks from PR Couture, Wendy Brandes, and Helen Zhu from Chictopia. The vibe was great and the opportunity to meet online media mavens was priceless!

You may, like I had, associate G-Star Raw with strictly jeans and denim, but after the Spring/Summer 2010 show I realize I was very very wrong! When the first model appeared wearing white bikini shorts and an extremely structured blazer with a plunging neckline, I knew this was going to be much more than just your good old deep denim finds. G-Star Raw brought a full range of looks for both men and women this season, with pieces casual enough for everday use and dressy enough to go out on the town. For the women, casual was a refreshing exaggeration on the boyfriend jean that bagged up top and tapered into an intense skinny jean, when paired with 4 inch heels, would make any guy want to be your boyfriend. The other looks that were more sophisticated included a white trench coat trimmed with blue detailing and a little black dress embedded with metal studs. G-Star didn’t forget the men, who were styled in pants ranging from bleached skinny jeans to fitted white dress pants and blazers. And coming from a person who swears against all things denim, I feel tempted to go out and find some G-Star jeans…now that’s a good show!

Devi Kroell
Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Michael Jackson, Devi Kroell carried through with some of the major trends this season including incredible hardware, neon brights, and the chic shimmery stuff – gold lesage embroidery.

Rebecca Minkoff
Looking to early Tim Burton films, 90s Peter Lindbergh supermodel photos, Rebecca’s return to womenswear included bustiers, animal prints, and black and white contrasts. We think this will nicely compliment her coveted handbags, adorned this season with hardware and chain detailing.

Gottex
Bejeweled layers, laminated tulle, and plasticized lycra were used this season, and even swimwear can’t avoid using sparkles and shimmer. Interesting new shaping was also was found, such as a high waist and the bicep straps/sleeves; just remember these suits are for ladies who lounge, not swim!
