I’m almost out of patience for the arrival of the spring, but at least I can look at some new pretty pretty polish shades to satisfy my desire for a colorful assortment of hues. Here’s a selection of my favorite collections from essie, Maybelline, and Deborah Lippmann.
The spring 2015 collection from essie is everything that you want for spring, and somehow, we are still waiting for it to truly be here. Oh well, as long as the sun’s not shining, at least our nail beds with be shining brightly! Inspired by spring blooms, found in both fashion and nature, the six shades offer an elegant range of hues, from “passionate plum dahlia” to “mint creme hydrangea” with some nude neutrals for something more on the subtle side. It’s certainly hard to pick a favorite, but I will readily admit I have a penchant for blue nail polish… Each bottle is available starting now for $8.50 each at fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.
Spring showers bring…bridal flowers, and all things wedding-related seem to definitely kick into high gear as soon as April rolls around. In honor of brides and bridemaids everywhere, essie has debuted its bridal 2015 collection, a total of 12 shades with six new sheer ones in oftened, on-trend hues, such as a “coral-kissed pink,” “soft-spoken caramel,” and “radiant red orange.” I love the decorative bridal-inspired cap element which looks like delicate lace in order to add a little special something to your “big day” nail polish choice. The shades all feature alliterations and tongue-in-cheek wedding-related names, such as tying the knotie, hubby for dessert, worth the wait, brides to be, brides no grooms, and happy wife, happy life. As always, each polish is available for $8.50 each at fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.
Deborah Lippmann hit it out of the ballpark with her summer 2015 collection so much so that the ONLY person I would share these luxe shades with was my very best friend of 20 years, albeit, reluctantly. For summer we go on a voyage to the far reaches of the Sahara with Lippmann, who presents us with fully opaque, neutral shades that represent the depths of the desert’s earth-toned landscape via Shifting Sands, Terra Nova (appeared on the Narciso Rodriguez spring/summer 2015 runway), Desert Moon, and Love in the Dunes . Each bottle is available for $18 each starting in May at Barneys New York, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Sephora stores nationwide.
I wear soooo much black. As I write this, I am dripping from head to toe with the inky hue, and am thrilled to have some nail shades to match the various tones and textures that the forever sophisticated color can embody. Maybelline’s Black to Black by Color Show Nail Lacquer includes five shades that vary in texture and finish so that you can get a matte look, high gloss, or some shimmer power with your black polish. All are streak-free, and formulated without toluene and formaldehyde, available for an amazing $3.99 each. Pick one, or all up at mass market retailers nationwide.
