I’m certainly going to miss the joy of dressing for fall — the light layers, the crispness in the air that doesn’t require a hat or gloves, and being able to wear a leather jacket, unbuttoned and unzipped, to show a fully-styled outfit below! As long as I want to live in the north east, I can’t fight the change of the seasons, but can only adapt my style to accommodate the weather fluctuations. Black skinny denim with some leather knee inserts are a great way to spice up your fall look.
For me, I wanted to keep the lines of my silhouette largely streamlined and clean, matching the leather hue and texture of the pants with the jacket, mixing the tough material with some feminine softness in my silk blouse and off-centered chignon grazing the nape of my neck. New for fall is my lip color, which is a blend of a deep, dark Topshop shade and my beloved Maybelline Color Sensational Red Revolution. Moving from a bright pink or coral to a deeper burgundy, purple, or red lip takes some getting adjusted to, but I think it really can elevate the overall look to a heightened level of sophistication. Just remember to exfoliate, moisturize your lips, and remove that color at the end of the night (I like using baby oil, olive oil, or Bliss Spa’s Fabulous foaming lip cleanser)!
