Famous fashionista Nicole Richie isn’t new to the design realm –from House of Harlow 1960 to Winter Kate – and she’s more than proved that she’s got a certain knack for standout shoes, jewelry, and on-trend boho-chic apparel. That’s right – her upcoming collection for Macy’s Impulse department, due out September 12th, is already Nicole’s third line, and until now, the few scarce snapshots of what’s in store have been a total tease! Now that we’ve gotten a better look, it’s safe to say that this more budget-friendly collection will not disappoint fans of Nicole’s previous fashion creations. From free-flowing maxi dresses, autumn-friendly minis that beg to be paired with textured tights, and bohemian-inspired prints galore, Nicole manages to stay true to her retro-modern aesthetic that’s undeniably influenced by the 60s and 70s, yet still totally now. In fact, it’s almost scary how well she manages to bring everything we love about carefree, breezy summer fashion and make it effortlessly fall festive. Don’t miss it when the line hits Macy’s Impulse later this month!

The whole “fit-and-flared” trend that took summer sundresses by storm is starting to branch out to invade everything from our tops, skirts, and jackets to boot! Peplum has always been a rather tricky shape to pull off – How much flare is too flared? How do I choose a shape that still flatters my own proportions? – but these peplum tanks make mastering the trend a cinch! Add an instant dose of girliness to an otherwise tomboy-chic ensemble by pairing one of these chic tanks with some tailored shorts and a cropped blazer, or rock with your favorite pair of colored or coated jeans. Easy-peasy! Not only does it help cinch in your waist to enhance your figure (and provide extra wiggle room if you’ve gone a little too overboard with all that yummy summer party food!), but the skirted style also adds effortless chicness in a way that’s still comfortable!

If there’s one tidbit of fashion advice we can take from spying on all the New York Fashion Week attendees, it’s that circle scarves are still undeniably in. Of course, despite the fact that it’s getting increasingly sunny here in the Bay Area, it is still freezing over in NYC, so it makes sense to stay bundled up. But realistically, you don’t need to be shivering to need an excuse to wrap up in a cute infinity scarf. As we transition from winter to spring (and even through the nippier nights of late spring and summer), lightweight jersey or gauzy-textured scarves come in handy as a way to add color and accessorize while not looking or feeling too stuffy or totally seasonally-confused. Add a pretty colorful infinity wrap to an otherwise simple sundress, or dress up a plain tank or tee with a luxe silky printed scarf. It’s the perfect way to cover up in these awkward in-between-seasons days and nights without breaking a sweat or clashing with your outfit!
