I always thought that American Apparel was a great pervuyer of colors for your wardobe, however that was before I met We Love Colors. Not only is it there brand name, but they really do mean it, and offer over 50 colors (check out the colors guide) in a variety of offerings for women, men, and children. You can get tights, leggings, socks, dancewear, gloves, plus-sized hosiery, laces, and even custom-designed tights from them! There’s no excuse to not have tights in an exact shade, or add some extra oomph of style with one of their patterned selections.
I tested a few pairs of We Love Colors tights, styling them with an lbd and a denim skirt. The trick with patterned tights is to pick one color or shaping found in the design, and match it with what you are wearing – i.e.with the zebra tights (purple and black ), I choose to wear something black in my apparel, and with the splash color tights, I choose a very subtle pattern in my tee to be in sync with the tie-dye color bursts. Another tights styling tip: bare a bright colored basic, like the Nylon/Lycra Microfiber Solid Color Tights in neon yellow with a lace or fishnet overlay. This way, you add an interesting texture to the look, as well as soften the brightness of the solid tights, if you’re not sure you are ready for full-on color. We Love Colors is also incredibly affortable, with tights averaging from $9-$14, you can definitely stock up on your basics and funky colors alike!
And here’s a fun little hosiery fact: by looking at portaiture, it’s pretty clear that centuries ago men wore tights to show off their legs, however during King Henry VIII’s reign in England, he gave ‘stuffing’ a whole new meaning by padding the calf area under his hose!
