Let’s get one thing straight: these are NOT your grandma’s pearls! Avant garde, over sized baubles in modern shapes and pairings are the new way to look at, think about, and wear pearls, so if you do want to wear your gram’s heirloom hand-me-downs, pair them with crystals, studs, and mixed metals for a fresh feel. If you’re in a shopping state of mind and want to check out the new iterations of jewelry that heavily include pearls, I’ve got a variety of options above, and I am skipping out on what to pair it with this week because…they look AMAZING with everything! With some metallic accents and other contemporary pieces, pearls feel right at home amongst your jeans and hoodies as well as with a slinky cocktail dress. Go ahead, have fun, and expect the compliments to roll in!

We’re in the home stretch now, and after five shows today, I’m dreaming of all of the new looks I just saw, and of course, some warmer weather too! This is the coldest February fashion week that I can remember experiencing…and I’ve been at this since 2003! I’m really fascinated with the pumped up volume found in largely tops and coats that I’ve been seeing this week, which look just so comfy and cozy; perfectly apt for this cold spell!
I can’t wait to experiment with the new shape myself, but in the meanwhile, my outfit of Day 5 is featured! Here’s how I wore this dress last season;some tweaks, but also, some things always resonate — I guess you can call it my style sensibility — with keeping the other apparel colors to a minimalist black, while complimenting the neon with some great pieces of accent jewelry. I can’t forget to mention that my hair was styled by Tyler at the TRESemmè lounge; he did an incredible job creating volume and movement in my hair; luckily, I already own a few of the products used and recommended, such as 24 Hour Body Mousse and Platinum Strength Heat Protection Spray; now I just need to excel at using a curling iron!
