At Paris Fashion Week, which marks the end of the Fall 2018 show season, maximalist, bold trends again stole the attention. Among the most noteworthy of these trends is the use of holographic, iridescent, and metallic fabrics. At shows like Maison Margiela, Nina Ricci, and Balmain loud fabrics appeared everywhere from outerwear to accessories and shoes.
Olivier Rousteing imagined his most recent Balmain collection in the year 2050, which was fitting considering the entirely holographic, futuristic looks featured in the show. At Anrealage, a collection entitled “Prism” featured reflective pieces in voluminous silhouettes that were meant to vary in appearance, depending on perspective.

Maison Margiela creates an incredibly compelling story to be told via scent, or four scents to be exact, as part of its new eau de parfum quad of fragrances. “Stemming from the concept of memories and emotions transformed into scents, ‘Replica’ Eau de Parfum has evolved to reach new ethereal heights of olfactory duplication – transcending the reality of memories to express a surreal realm of four human fantasies,” explains the brand. Continuing the story that began to be told with the 2012 launch of the ‘Replica’ eau de toilette that links “emotional souvenirs of the human condition that recall the sensory experiences that speak to our collective consciousness,” this new iteration reaches further into the subconscious, embarking on a odyssey that evokes fantasies and desires, dreams, and even a touch of surrealism and other-worldliness.
Embodying these explorations in four scents, they are found in Dancing on the Moon (a white floral aldehydic), Across Sands (an oriental leather scent), Soul of the Forest (a green vegetal scent), and Flying (a fresh and airy citrus cologne-style edp). The packaging is meant to further add to the journey through its usage of black, representing nighttime and when dreams and the subconscious can come to life, whereas the bottle itself features a laboratory-style label in the house’s more recent signature silver hue on an apothecary-style bottle with a misty black ombré gradient effect traveling down the glass. Visually stunning and scintillating in their originality, repare yourself for not only an olfactory journey, but a full-sensory experience with these new Maison Margiela fragrances!
The Maison Margiela ‘Replica’ Eau de Parfum Collection is available now on barneys.com and retail for $180 per each 3.4 oz bottle at Barneys
