Back in April we wrote about the launch of New Balance’s first custom athletic shoe, the custom US574, and now even more options are available via women’s sizing, more color selections, and are made domestically, in New Balance’s factory in Norridgewock, Maine. Your custom US574s will be finished and shipped to you within 4-8 business days; record speed for a tailored, individually made and well-crafted pair of shoes! Additionally, New Balance strives to source materials from domestic suppliers, and 25% of all New Balance shoes sold in North America are made in the US.
Create your own at NewBalance.com (for $114.95) or view the custom pre-selected colorway options here (and picture above). I was able to create my own US574s courtesy of New Balance, and even though the possibilites are endless, I was in need of a a black pair of sneakers. Unable to completely suppress my craving for bright color, I created a mainly black design with some grey “castlerock” and neon green/yellow “limeade” accents.
Plus, it was pretty cool to have custom embroidery on the heels; you get up to eight letters, numerals, or characters per heel.
You can also save your designs and come back to them to complete later, and once finished, share with new design your social network as well!
At the event, I also saw the New Balance Tall Tales collection derived from the American Tall Tales of Johnny Appleseed and John Henry (picture is the John Henry colorway of grey and blue suede and mesh).
