For Day 2 of New York Fashion Week, my main goal was to…stay warm! The temps really dropped, which certainly makes remaining stylish quite a challenge, while dealing with drastic fluxes from blaring hot air inside of the tents to overcrowded and cramped backstage spaces and then…walking back to the train at the end of the day, exposed to the elements along the way. It’s still too early to have a good grasp on the trends for fall/winter 2015, although I can tell you that the only trend to truly emerge this early is that…no one appears to be producing season-appropriate clothing. It’s feeling much more resort, with thigh-high slits, filmy, transparent layers, and slinky fabrications than its traditionally sturdier winter counterparts. Let’s see what the rest of the week has in store for us….

Sneak Peek: Lands’ End Swim for Spring 2015
Thinking about warmer months ahead never gets out for me, so I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of summer here on the east coast, in order to wear some pieces from Lands’ End 2015 swim lineup! You actually can shop it now, which is a great way to anticipate lazy beach days ahead, thanks to its lovely swim tees, sandals, bikinis, beach totes, “dresskinis”, one pieces, and more. A cool new addition to this season is the ability to monogram swimsuits; three initials on the hip look ultra sophisticated; my favorite style to pair one with is this Tugless Tank One Piece Swimsuit in stripe.
Peruse through my top picks from the preview of the line via the slideshow above, and shop online or in store for your swimwear, coverup, and summer accessory stylish needs.

A Field Guide to Shopping For The PERFECT Winter Coat
It’s still possible to have your pick of the litter when it comes to winter coats this season, so I thought I’d provide a handful of tips to use as your guide when attempting to navigate through dozens upon dozens of coats you’ll be feasting your eyes upon in-store and online in the next few weeks. In my opinion, finding the perfect winter coat can be just as important, and arduous, as discovering the perfect pair of jeans or swimsuit. Just remember-you can do it! A little prep, research, and trying on, and you’re bound to find the perfect one for you. In the meanwhile, here’s some suggestions to get you started.
Start EarlyDon’t wait until the weather drops to 20 degrees or the first snowfall to go coat shopping, as a LOT of people will probably be doing this, and it will surely limit the quantity and sizes offerings available to you. Also, contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of REALLY good sales before the holidays arrive, so don’t expect to necessarily pay full price because it isn’t the traditional holiday shopping season yet.
If You Order Online – Buy TWO SizesIt may sound crazy, but when you are in the comfort of your own home, you’ll be able to try on your coats with a variety of layers to ensure you have the perfect fit, which means your sizing expectations may shift. Also, it would suck if you love the jacket, but just need it a bit smaller or larger, and by the time you return this size and order a new one, the size you need is out of stock.
Make a List of Coat “Musts” Ahead of TimeWhat do you absolutely need in a winter coat? Before you look and get mesmerized by the variety of options or swept up in rationalizing one style over the other, create a list that includes your needs and wants in a coat, and if the one you’re looking at doesn’t fit the bill, don’t compromise- keep looking! Since last winter was AWFUL, most retailers are stocking up on cold weather items this season so you may have more options than usual to pan through. Aspects of the coat that you will want to decide on in advance include length, color, silhouette, fabrication, details such as hoods, zippers on pockets, interior pockets, or thumb holes, and temperature ratings, like knowing that your jacket will still keep you warm when it’s -20F outside.
Map Out Your BudgetCreate a range for what you’d like to spend on your jacket, and remember that you may want to buy a new hat, scarf, and/or gloves to match. Be sure to have an idea of what you’re looking for first and what it may cost, so you don’t set your budget too low or high. If you buy one very classic, versatile piece under budget, it may allow you to pick up a second coat with more of a fashion forward print, color, or silhouette as well!

Fall 2013 Fashion Week: What FPD Wore
After I did the “What FPD Wore Fashion Week Day 1” post, I decided to do things a bit differently with a composite post comprising of all of the looks from the week! Below, you’ll find what I wore on days 2 – 7 of New York Fashion Week for Fall 2013, with a special thanks to Dana-Maxx for the lovely clothing, Land’s End for the great tote, and Sorrelli for always keeping me well-jeweled and sparkly. Which day’s look is your favorite?
DAY2:

The blizzard was well on its way, so dressing appropriately for the weather was a key concern! I went for a red and beige color scheme, with the most important part of my look being the boots!
Sweater: Rodarte for Opening Ceremony; Scarf: Alexander McQueen; Jeans: NYDJ; Boots: Sorel Joan of Artic; Ring: Sorrelli King of the Jungle Cuff Ring; Bag (not pictured): Land’s End Linen & Leather Tote.
Day 3: And…the storm came! Again being warm and bundled up with waterproof footwear is a must, but fashion week stops for nothing, so trekking on I must do! I filmed an episode of Street Peek, spent some time in the Style Coalition Influencer Lounge and later went to the Project Runway Reunion Party and Technology Panel with my friend Rebecca from Sorelli such a fun way to end the day; too bad I can’t stay out late —Sunday brings more shows and events; fashion week does not stop over the weekend!
Jacket: Dana-Maxx; Top: J.Crew; Pants: Club Monaco; Boots: Sorel Jewelry: All by Sorrelli & MiMi by Sorrelli.
Day 4:
With plenty of snow still on the ground, there was now way I was making it through the day without a lot of layering, and once again — boots! Today was insanely busy for me, with about 7 shows and two Grammy’s parties, so I had to be looking great and ultra comfortable to last for 14 hours.
Dress: L’Amour by Nanette Lepore for jcpenney; Turtleneck: heat tech by Uniqlo; Tights; Charnos from AlexBlake.com; Boots: Sorel, Cuff Bracelet: Kate Young for Target; Necklace, earrings, and ring: All Sorrelli from the Atlantis Collection.
Day 5:

The week didn’t seem to slow down one bit as it went on, and today was action-packed with designer meet-and-greets at Style Coalition, shows, backstage access and interviews, and work, work, and more writing work! I was fortunate to meet designers Timo Weiland and Rafael Cennamo (and took photos with them, above), and did a video confessional live from the lounge on how my fashion week was going.
Dress: Dana-Maxx; Bolero Jacket: Narciso Rodriguez DesigNation for Kohl’s; Tights: Kushyfoot; Boots (not pictured): Cougar; Bag (not pictured): Land’s End Linen & Leather Tote; Laquer and metal orange/red bracelet: BaubleBar; Bracelets, earrings, and ring: MiMi by Sorrelli, Sorrelli Atlantis Collection, and Avant Garde by Sorrelli Aquatic Series Collection.
Day 6:
Another day of glamour and excitement, I rallied my energy and headed out the door for Day 6! Comfort is everything, and although I see plenty of ‘cab to curb’ heels at fashion week, I certainly hit the pavement hard and couldn’t rely on thinly-heeled stilettos to get me through the day! I did stop at The Daily Style Sessions Suite to take a load off and learn about some of the sponsored products while sipping on my absolute favorite – Vita Coco Coconut Water.
Dress: Dana-Maxx, Bolero: Rachel Rachel Roy, Tights: Hanes; Bag: Land’s End, Shoes: Sorel Medina Rain Heels; Eyeglasses: Vogue Eyewear for LensCrafters; Cuff: unkown; Earrings and Ring: Sorrelli and MiMi by Sorrelli.
Day 7:
And it’s a wrap! It’s been quite a week, and I can’t wait to share all of my experiences, trend, and beauty tips with you that are sure to be big come fall 2013.
Dress: Dana-Maxx, Jacket: Temperley London for Target; Tights: Spanx; Booties: Aerosoles; Jewelry: Sorrelli.
Full Disclosure: some of the items mentioned in this post were gifted to Fashion Pulse Daily.
