As we continue into one of the coldest winter months of the year, the need for a reliable, warm winter coat has become more pressing than ever. What I Wore NYFW Fall 2015, Day 5

Being glamorous and being practical; two things that for whatever reason, are diametrically opposed. There are of course exceptions, but when it comes to fashion week, this usually tends to be the case. Maybe instead, taking a different approach to fashion can recall some elements of glamour, like the ease at which something is worn, effortless elegance and sophistication that just seem to emanate from a person. I’d like to tap into that, and I hope that dressing in a way that is, well, me, will eventually get me there.

In fashion, hindsight and foresight are critical to fashion; you’ve got to appreciate and have knowledge of the past so that you can learn from it and modify for the feature. In thinking of the past and refreshing it for the feature, 70s inspiration was heavily laid down at New York Fashion Week this season, executed in a variety of ways, both wearable and unwearable for the average person. Stay tuned as I delve further into this trend, as well as debut some exclusive content on FPD in the coming days. What I Wore, NYFW Fall 2015, Day 3

There are pieces that just pull a look together, despite the weather, and this pleated pattern skirt from Lands’ End is exactly what I’m talking about. Everything was built around the skirt, which was certainly the centerpiece of my day 3 look. I do love wearing black and white, but there’s something about a great hue of navy that really feels like its pushing the fashion element forward in a look.

From Fashion Week, I can report that fur accents, both faux and real, are HUGE, adorning the entirety of sleeves, or just the shoulders or the cuffs, along with huge, stole-like pieces attached to collars, which in this weather, actually feels quite comforting and functional. For beauty, a tucked in half, sleek ponytail has already been seen on the runways multiple times, while faces are kept relatively bare, with an occasional pop of a bright lip.

I’m going to attempt to keep my hair wavy and my lipstick bright for the rest of New York Fashion Week; let’s see how that goes!
