After years of reigning supreme, silver has finally taken the backseat to opulent, gleaming tones of gold when it comes to jewelry. Largely within the realm of yellow and rose gold hues are where the trend in gold jewelry largely rests, although the mixing of various shades of metals is still quite prevalent. For the most part, neatly placed crystal embellishment in thin, streamlined shapes is the new take on design, looking right at home when layering multiple pieces around necks, fingers, and wrists.
See above for some of my current favorites in gold jewelry, and hold onto that silver jewelry though, since as you know, these things tend to come in cycles.

Kara Ross was inspired for her Fall/Winter 2012 collection during a recent trip to Morocco. Pulling from her experiences in the Sahara, as well as her own Fine Jewelry Collection, the line is rich, vibrant and striking. The trip’s influences can be seen in Kara’s incorporation of beautiful jewel tones in purple, blue, green, and honey. As always, Kara’s collection features gorgeous stones and exotic skins to create bold statement pieces. One of the prominent icons of the collection is the scarab, an ancient beetle artifact, which has been recreated in onyx, malachite, hematite, amethyst, and Tiger’s Eye. The collection plays with geometric shapes and fine textiles to create pieces distinctive and unique.
The color palette carries over into her handbag collection with vibrant new skins, custom died for the collection. Kara debuted a new style, similar to her classic Trinity bag, which keeps the working professional in mind with plenty of space for the necessities as well as a spot for your iPad. Also available this season is a bag customization set available for retailers. The set beautifully displays the various stones, closures and skins available for handbags, making customizing your own unique Kara bag a breeze. With all the delicious new skins and gemstones, picking just one combination seems nearly impossible!!

With a Mediterranean feel of cool blues, new turquoise, lapis, blue sapphires, and rose quartz, Kara Ross debuts her beautiful gemstone collection for Spring/Summer 2012. The cool color palette compliments the liberated feeling of creatively layering and stacking jewelry. The geometric shapes of stackable bracelets and rings make the collection fun and trendy, yet, Mother of Pearl (Kara’s favorite) and other gemstones keep it classic and timeless. In addition to her breathtaking jewelry line, Ross hand-treats all of the skins for her exotic handbag line to match the colors of her inspiration, “summer desserts,” using colors such as blue raspberry, pink berry, and blackberry with touches of metallic.
Looking for a statement piece or accessories that you can wear daily? Kara Ross has it all! When meeting Ross during her collection debut at the Circa Lounge in the Lincoln Center, one immediately felt her inspiration come alive as she discussed her love for accessories.
