This fall season’s beauty trends range from traditional staples to eye-catching statement looks. Looking back on the Fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear runway looks, we can easily see that the makeup used within various shows was an accurate prediction of what will be trending in the cosmetic world this fall. On the more unsurprising side of things, the dark lip has returned to its usual spot as a true go-to for the colder months of the year. Seen on runways like Rodarte, Louis Vuitton, and Marni, the dark lip trend in deep plum and red tones was made a focal point. To get the look yourself, try NYX Cosmetics Simply Vamp Lip Cream in shades She Devil and Covet, which are both available online for $6.50. Or, try Urban Decay’s Vice Lipstick in Blackmail or Disturbed, also available online and priced at $17.

More on the side of dramatic statement looks is the smoky, smudged eyeliner, which was also a popular choice on the Fall 2016 runways. This goth-inspired look complemented the collections shown by designers and brands like Adam Selman, Elie Saab, and Givenchy. Going the daring eye makeup route can be intimidating for many, so at first, you may want to opt for a more wearable, subtle version. Try the Marc Jacob’s Highliner Gel Eye Crayon in Blacquer, available online for $25, or NYX Cosmetics Tres Jolie Gel Pencil Liner in Pitch Black, also available online for $12.

Another core trend in beauty that has seemingly been in the spotlight for multiple consecutive seasons now is the natural, bold eyebrow look. Being that it is much easier to get away with darker, bolder brows come fall and winter, it is no surprise that this look also made several appearances on the fall 2016 runways. Valentino, Balmain, and Nina Ricci all opted for easy-going natural brows, rather than heavy filled-in versions. To recreate this low-maintenance look, try Soap & Glory’s Arch Brow Gel, available here for $12, or Anastasia Beverly Hills Tinted Brow Gel, available online for $22.

Paris Fashion Week FALL 2013: Chanel, Givenchy

Chanel fall 2013

Chanel fall 2013

The Collection: Chanel Fall 2013

The Theme: It’s a Chanel world after all

The Color Palette: Black, gray, blue, and pink.

About the Collection: Chanel rules the world! At least that was the idea conveyed by the massive globe that was the centerpiece to Karl Lagerfeld’s most recent fashion spectacle. Glittering tweed jackets and short flared skirts were a favorite pairing, while coats that were cut short in the front and long in the back reworked these classic pieces with a sartorial mullet-inspired ensemble. The accessories captured a lot of attention as well, with metal hardware seen on the leather thigh high boots, and small ornamental globes were the evening bags of choice, while the standout pieces were the fur helmets, appearing in soft shades of blue, mint, red or pink. With each new collection, Chanel seems to decree a manifesto for how women should dress and we are more than willing to be loyal followers in this new world order.

The Best of Paris Fashion Week Spring 2013: AKRIS, Hermès and Givenchy

by fashion pulse contributor

[All Images via WWD.com]

Show: AKRIS Spring/Summer 2013

Theme: For the Modern Woman

Color Palette: Black, cream, various shades of brown, yellow, and green

Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: To pinpoint a single signature style from the AKRIS SS13 collection would be nearly impossible; with over 90 different looks, the label featured outfits from full length mesh dresses, deep v and asymetrical necklines, 70’s-esque ultra suede and leather skirts and simple creme linen pantsuits. Although designer Albert Kreimler stated his intention was to “design for the modern woman”, his collection held both avant-garde and retro fashions.

Show: Hermès Spring/Summer 2013

Theme: Electic

Color Palette: Bright Patterns and Neutrals

Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: With eccentric patterns, trench coats, and classic staples, Hermès produced a collection like nothing ever seen before. With all of the diverse styles, the most original was definitely shorts showcasing extended leather pockets. One look included the shorts in black paired with a matching collared button down, skinny brown suspenders and fingerless brown leather gloves. It resembled a craftsman’s attire, however in a fashionablely luxe way.

Show: Givenchy Spring/Summer 2013

Theme: A modern spin on ’60s couture

Color Palette: Black and white with baby blue and blush accents

Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Although the column gowns, billowed sleeves, and ruffled necklines were breathtaking, the metal chokers were what really set the show apart. The dresses and pantsuits were soft and elegant, but paired with a thick gold metal choker turned the entire look into a modern, edgy ensemble. One of the best looks was an asymmetrically-sleeved, powder blue dress with a ruffled neckline and thick silver choker. The dress itself epitomized women’s ’60s fashion, while the choker, hair and makeup made it extremely contemporary.

Best of Fashion Week SS12: Accessories

by fashion pulse contributor

New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks have all displayed an array of wish-list worthy accessories.  We’ve covered the SS12 clothing trends, yet accessories are an outfit’s bells-and-whistles. Check out some of our favorites…

Handbags

JCrew (pictured above) absolutely nailed it with their ladylike collection of handbags for spring 2012. Blue, orange, green, yellow…did we mention leopard?! Perfectly practical, but still extremely fashion forward.

Clutches

I simply can’t pick a favorite, so let’s call it a tie. Proenza Schouler (at top) mixed textures to create tweed clutches with chunky chain detail straps, while Chloe mixed accessories to make what looks to be a bracelet-bag combo. Gotta have it!

Shoes

Celine really wowed with their take on the platform heel/pump for the upcoming season. Basic black or the marriage of black and red, simplicity says it all. Even more incredible, with your ankle strapped in, these shoes look totally wearable – dare I even say comfortable?

Sunglasses

Frameless sunglasses at Fendi felt interestingly academic. Deviating away from the line’s normal sexuality, the glasses definitely added to the serious, studious woman, a style rather novel for Fendi.

Jewelry

Bracelets: The stacked multi-colored bangles at Carolina Hererra proved that wrists should not be left naked. The more, the merrier come Spring 2012.

Necklaces: Donna Karan went wild with her tribal-inspired neckpieces strung with wood and plastic. Meanwhile, Givenchy’s statement shark-tooth pendants give “sharp” a double meaning.

Fashion Week SS12 was an accessory-studded event; which piece is your favorite?
