The F/W 2011 Marc by Marc Jacobs collection was an intriguing and insightful blend of “1970’s gone 1940’s”. The collection was both trendy and glamorous, as the collection offered up a dash of old Hollywood glamour; there was an array of chevron-patterned luxe fabrications, a corduroy suits, and higher wasit lines to boot. Heels were given the pairing of ankle socks, and the ’70s once again surfaced for Jacobs with pieces such as prominent, flowing jumpsuits. Marc Jacobs outdid himself again, proving that Marc by Marc Jacobs is not only a diffusion line, but a steady, lifestyle offering.

Alejandro Ingelmo’s F/W 2011 collection was a throwback in time to the ’70s. The classic standbys of flats and pumps ranged from chic to sexy and were seen in camel & pinkish tones. The more standout statement pieces were the metallics– silver heels and gold wedges. With a mix of old & new, elegant & sexy, Alejandro Ingelmo will continue his ascent as a coveted shoe brand.

St John’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection proved that the label has gone in a new, stylish direction. Traditionally known for its knit suits and cool neutral colors, St. John stepped out of its comfort zone and carefully into the future. With a collection full of anything but dowdy long skirts and a cool silver color palette, it was both refreshing and exciting. St. John now has positive indication of a new direction, thanks to George Sharp, and of offering elegant attire to a new, younger legion of fashion-conscious women.
