What I Wore, NYFW Fall 2015, Day 4

by Julia DiNardo

P1080072

It’s literally three degrees today, so there’s really no way around that; all winter accessories are called into action! Without a doubt, I was very much looking forward to the shows, and being in side today, as well as spending the evening with my friends at NARS cosmetics. From the runways today, floor length, ball-gown skirts are going to be huge, as well as slick, seamless  turtlenecks worn under dresses for fall/winter 2015.

In this look, I went for a couple of pieces that are certifiably winter-centric, like the plush from these pants and warm, wooly softness of my cardigan sweater. This jacket may not stop the paparazzi in their tracks, but it’s pretty warm, and let’s me stuff as many layers as I would like under it while minimizing that heavy, uncomfortable feeling from wearing a ton of clothing in the cold weather.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

by Julia DiNardo

juliad21
The weekend is over, the weather is frigid, but I’m going to try to just keep on smiling through it all. Having two vacations booked in March is certainly an impetus to grin and bare the blustery, unreasonable precipitation and temps, but also was taking a walk down memory lane this weekend. When I was in college, I spent most of my time living in Nolita, a dream come true for this Pittsburgher to be surrounded by Little Italy and all things cool in Soho and the Lower East Side enveloping her. Fashion Pulse Hubby and I revisited the spot where I used to live when we first started dating, and although a few things in the neighborhood remain the same, many of them have changed since 2002.

We ventured across the street and took these photos in front of a building that used to be a police precinct turned into luxury apartments, where Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford were rumored to have lived in the 1990s. It always looked so solemn and idyllic to me, and the ivy-wrought iron gates pop against the slushy urban landscape. I logged 16,000 steps that day on my Fitbit, so warmth and comfort were key to comprising my look. A roomy bag with strap lengths long enough to sit on my ultra padded shoulders was a must, along with jewelry that can peek out from amongst the layers, cold weather accessories, practical shoes, and my “double bubble,” a combination of a bubble vest with a bubble coat, ensure premium warmth.

Frye Boots Stylishly Stand the Test of Time

by Julia DiNardo

Choosing the right pair of shoes can be a challenge. You have to take into account the season, your lifestyle, the way you like to dress, your job, and your budget. With all of those factors, sometimes it can be a mystery just exactly which direction to head in. During the fall, it is well known that boots are the overall most worn shoe of the season. Every style from combat boots, boots with heels, work boots, flat boots, and snow boots come into play. Everyone has a favorite go-to style that never fails them in their everyday life. But when it comes time for a change, how do you know which style is right for you? Maybe you need a pair for a special occasion, or just for your everyday work life.

In today’s ever changing world. it’s uncommon for a brand to last for 150 years, but when it comes to Frye boots, there is something about the brand that just works for everyone. Starting out originally as work boots, Frye has never forgotten to keep quality as their number one priority. Known famously for their iconic CAMPUS boots, Frye became a staple in every Americans closet in the 60’s. Frye has taken their rich heritage and moved into the twenty first century. Keeping to their rugged Americana style, these boots will make any outfit timeless. Now they offer many different styles and colors, which come in a variety of heights. They appeal to so many different people with a wide array of personal styles. Whether you’re the mom taking your kids to school or the kid being taken to school, there is a pair for you. You have a girly style? No problem. An edgy style? Even better. There is a pair for everyone.

Once you own a pair, you will understand what has kept them in business for so long and how they keep their loyal customers coming back for more. Wouldn’t you rather purchase a pair of boots that will last you more than one season that are stylish and classic than purchase a trendy shoe that will be long gone after a month or so? We think so. There is no arguing with the fact that these boots will keep their strength and quality throughout the cold fall and winter months, while keeping you looking trendy and in style. You will be a satisfied customer while your feet are warm and you are trudging through the slushy wet and cold snow.

So when it comes time for you to decide which pair of boots are for you this time around, keep it in the back of your mind that Frye boots will satisfy all of your fall/winter shoe needs for years to come.

The Frye Company for Fall 2012

by Julia DiNardo

frye company fall 2012

At The Frye Company‘s Fall 2012 preview, I took in the latest styles, colors, prints, and materials used to update and compliment the brand’s newer and classic styles. A big fan of the Frye Dorado style, I was happy to see it in new iterations, alongside many other dressy and casual options, with some amazing bags in the mix! Stay tuned for some fleece and rabbit-lined boots, Frye’s answer to the UGG via a lightweight, comfy shearling boot, studded flats and sneakers, and much much more! You can always shop Frye online, or at your favorite retailer, and stay tuned as they plan to open more stores in the next year.
