National Breast Cancer Awareness Month ties together awareness, education, and empowerment every October. Read on to see how you can contribute, promote, facilitate and inspire– oh, and did we mention shop?! No effort is too little!

Through an increasing global dialogue, the company wishes to spread the message of breast health: early detection saves lives.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign distributes millions of pink ribbons and illuminates hundreds of landmarks in pink lights annually drawing attention to the issue. This year the campaign is being led by Evelyn Lauder and Elizabeth Hurley.
Estee Lauder’s Pink Ribbon Collection is designed to help raise awareness, but does not affect their overall donation of $500,000 to BCRF. During the month of October 2011, Sock It to Me is teaming up with the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) in the fight against breast cancer. Consumers can choose from 11 quirky designs, and 50% of the sale price will be donated directly to benefit the National Breast Cancer Coalition fund. The NBCC hopes to eradicate breast cancer by designing and acting on strategies addressed to legislation.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the skincare experts at Mama Mio have two separate initiatives during the month of October 2011.

What’s more, Urban Outfitters has donated $600,00 to Susan G. Komen.
Alternative will continue to sell its Pink Ribbon Collection at www.alternativeapparel.com through 2011, donating 10% of the retail price to Komen. They have guaranteed a minimum of $25,000.

I’ve got yet another e.l.f. product to woo you with this week! This time around it’s the e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder, which comes in at a stunning $3. Yep, that’s it! The substantial compact comes with a mirror, but no brush (hey, for $3, I don’t mind recycling one of my existing makeup brushes for this!), and is modeled similarly to the NARS Highlighting/Bronzing Blush Duo, $40 at Sephora. First use the bronzer as a contour on the cheekbones and all over the face, then come in with the blush, applied to just the apples of the cheeks. Great for adding some layered color to your face, as well as having two options in one in your makeup bag!
