Judging from the recent runway shows for the upcoming spring/summer 2017 season, next spring will definitely be the perfect time to try out that bold lip color or vibrant eyeshadow that you’ve been hesitant to use in the past. The beauty trends from this most recent fashion week season are anything but subtle, with looks ranging from solid glitter lips to bright and bold eyeshadow that stretches way beyond the eyelids.

Classic looks like the timeless red lip also made a major statement on many prominent runways. One of the most notable trends that has taken off in runway shows all over the globe is the use of glitter. Bold looks even took over at New York Fashion Week, which is more known for showcasing extremely minimal, no-makeup beauty looks on its runways. Despite this however, DKNY’s show a few weeks ago had one of the most talked-about beauty looks overall. The makeup for the show was done by reknowned makeup artist Pat McGrath, who used the DKNY runway to showcase her most recent release, the currently sold out Lust 004 Lipstick Kit. The look is made up of a red lipstick base with pressed glitter on top, making for a truly show-stopping look. The glitter did not only show up on lips, but also in eyeliner, as seen at Versace, and in painted-on embellishments in various geometric shapes, as seen at Giamba.

Following along with the boldness of heavy glitter is the use of bold, colorful eyeshadow, which at many shows was applied also along the cheekbones as highlighter, as well as extending across the eyelids. At Victoria Beckham, emerald green and cobalt blue shadow made a huge statement, and was fresh and unusual compared to what the designer would normally choose for makeup looks. At Louis Vuitton and Max Mara, similar eye definition was used, but even more dramatic. Vibrant hues of green and orange were glided along both the cheekbones and eyelids at Max Mara, which was a perfect fit within its tropical-inspired collection. At Louis Vuitton, a sleek cat-eye in black liner was complimented by deep navy shadow, which extended far over the brows. Finally, among the abundance of bold glitter and vibrant eyeshadow, the classic red lip proved that it’s here to stay, making appearances on runways like Jason Wu, Cushnie et Ochs, and Creatures of the Wind. At Cushnie et Ochs, the look was slightly updated, and was actually two-toned. The top lip was done in a timeless red shade, and the bottom in a more vibrant pink-red.

Click through the slideshow above to see how these prominent beauty trends were used at other shows throughout fashion month.

Aldo RISE: Designer Collaborations for SS12

by fashion pulse contributor

Faster by Mark Fast “Cregger”

JW Anderson “Weatherbee”

Aldo RISE, the latest collaboration endeavor between Aldo and innovative, fresh design talent, is an ascent into fashion-forward footwear for Spring 2012.

Meet the designers working with Aldo to turn their visions into being, a deed designers only dream of: JW Anderson, Faster by Mark Fast, Christian Cota, Cushnie Et Ochs, Libertine, and Preen.

The name of the game is presence, as each designer creates a unique look all their own. For instance, the stiletto makes a sharp comeback with JW Anderson’s Weatherbee ($155), an unbeatable look for a night out on the town. While, Mark Fast’s platform Cregger pump ($155), available in both patent and suede, is both sexy and bright, standing out in an entirely different way.

Libertine “Allor“

Preen “Paider”

Libertine’s printed wedge Allor platform ($155) is the love child of rebellion and practicality, an ideal look with spring’s fantastic dresses, skirts and shorts. Or try Preen’s color blocked Paider heels ($155) to transition you from the office to date night. Romantic and feminine, these are spot-on  with spring’s pastel trend craze.

To shop, click here. Each designer certainly “rises” to the occasion!

Anne Bowen, Christian Siriano, Cushnie et Ochs, and Concept Korea Spring 2011 Collections

by fashionpulse

Anne Bowen

Guests of Anne Bowen‘s show were treated to a lot of  leg, super-high heels, and tight dresses with flowing trains and sashes at her Spring 2011 collection. The theme was “deconstructed formality;” uber short, uber sexy pieces with both soft and edgy masculine elements, like a delicate sash billowing off a taupe one-shoulder or a blue pinstripe short suit. The designer kept the color palette muted, with a majority of silver and nude. Known for her bridal wear, Bowen did not disappoint, as the finale piece was a Swarovski crystal beaded asymmetrical one-shouldered number. Daring brides who are ready to show some skin and leg on their big day now know where to look.

Christian Siriano

There were 4o reasons to celebrate at Project Runway sensation Christian Siriano’s Spring 2011 collection. The king of “fierce”  maintained the impeccable craftsmanship and returned to the drama that made him the winner of PR Season Four, with pieces inspired by his travels in  Africa, Asia, and the Mediterranean. The travel inspiration was evident from the first look:  white slim fit pants and a cognac “safari chic” leather jacket, right through to his last creation —  the fiery red tulle concoction was wonderfully impractical, yet consistent with Siriano’s over-the-top elaborate aesthetic.

Cushnie et Ochs

Design team Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs know how to put on a show. From the eerily wafting fog to the ethereal trip-hop soundtrack, the Cushnie et Ochs show was a cohesive experience, seemingly less about the glaring-lights-go-go-go routine of other shows and more about a sultry method of displaying the much more fluid collection this season. Less evident were some of the skin-tight, monotone mini-dresses, replaced with looser shifts in solids and the collection’s signature gray, peach and white floral print. Nevertheless, for the strong, empowered Cushnie et Ochs woman, the usual suspects — sheer elements, sharp cut-outs, and surprising pops of leather – are here to stay.

Concept Korea

Three designers, three shows within a show, three very different visions. Kwak Hyun Joo, Juyoung Lee, and Lee Jean Youn came together to create a show that was fun yet serious and crafted, with mixed media (videos kicking off each designer’s collection on a huge plasma screen at the head of the runway) and mixed sexes. Pucca by Hyun Joo featured pop art —  comic book-like prints that were a flirty, free cascade down the runway, with playful additions like ruffles on skirts, fluorescent mesh and tassels on strategically-placed shirt zippers. Lee’s men’s collection, Resurrection, was like an homage to Scottish Military Goth, if such a thing existed, with a sea of black punctuated by cargo pants under kilt-like pleated skirts and strappy, military shirts and jackets. Youn’s collection was an ending full of contrasts, mixing leather and feathers, snake skin and organza, salmon and black and throwing in a little bridal at the end for good measure.
