The Chris Benz Resort 2013 collection tells a story of break-loose travels. The narrative consists of playful ruffles, tinsel, and sheer layers highlighted in saturated brights and merry prints. The silhouettes mix oversized jackets and peplum blouses with cigarette pants and blanketing patterned skirts. Beading and exposed underskirts are some delightful key notes, as well as the irresistible, electric double-knits. If this were our vacation wardrobe, we’d find it difficult to pack light, as we’d want to bring it all!

Sometimes dressing casually can still look put together. Take for example, my outfit, seen here at the Chris Benz show on Day 6 of fashion week: all of these pieces I’ve worn in a casual manner before, but thrown together they present more a casual, chic, effortless vibe (at least in my mind!). Toward the end of the week, my main focus was on my work, and not necessarily my outfits, so style and comfort had to go hand in hand. I went with reliable pieces, most of which I have had in my wardrobe for a while, that I knew wouldn’t let me down. In this look:
- cashmere cardigan, J.Crew (about four years old)
- top, from ShopManhattanite.com, about a year old
- skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs (newish, a bday gift from Mom!)
-
-
- pale nude/pink pumps, Nine West (about seven years old)
