The Show: Chado Ralph Rucci
The Theme: Bright, sleek, couture, and modern
The Color Palette: White and black accented with shocking pink, chrome yellow, coral, and grass green.
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: The combination of bold colors and precise cuts made the entire collection extremely powerful and defining of a new take on Rucci’s signature aesthetic. Printed silk, wool suits and suede dresses were embellished with razor cut-outs, beading and feathers. The highlight of the collection was a black wool crepe suit with razor cut-outs. What made this look exceptional was the braided neon piping along the left sleeve. The detailing was original and the quality craftsman ship was impeccable and evident.

The Show: Emerson
The Theme: ’70s punk with a modern and feminine twist
The Color Palette: Black, white, electric blue, bright red, neon orange, and purple
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Inspired by horror films from the 1970s, Emerson’s spring 2013 collection displayed edgy looks, including angled, draped dresses, leather varsity jackets, red velvet tulle and nylon and metal blends. The harshness of leather, studs and fishnets was complimented with long, flowing dresses and skirts and feminine, printed silks. The standout look of the show was a printed silk dress with leather accents and a black nylon skirt. It was paired with polka dot, knee-high nylon stockings and black and white strap wedges.

The Show: Orla Kiely
The Theme: Summer in the ’60s
The Color Palette:
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: The collection was presented as a short film, which was viewed out of a fittingly printed trailor set-up in the back of Orla Kiely’s SoHo store. The prints and cuts of every outfit brought nostalgia for summer vacations and trips to Palm Springs. The cropped trousers, boatneck dresses, Peter Pan collars, and floral and nautical prints exuded vintage awareness. A favorite piece was a red leather romper with long sleeves, gold buttons, and a plunging neckline. The cut was extremely unique while the color was assertive and commanding.
