Dana-Maxx Fall 2012

by fashion pulse contributor

We love having expectations for fashion, and then having them wildly surpassed. Dana-Maxx wowed us yet again with her Fall 2012 collection of womenswear, showcasing sexy skirts, fit and flair dresses, and her classic pops of color.

There’s something to be said about a designer who makes you feel at ease in her presence and in her clothing, and Dana-Maxx does just that. Her aesthetic is a combination of everlasting strength and femininity, with this season’s true inspiration being “desert architecture.”

This season’s neutrals are ink, black, mocha, and pumpkin with pops of gold sequins interspersed. Cobalt, ultra marine, and rhubarb will awaken your senses, especially when paired with the spicy Indonesian or alluring floral print. The sensual sweetheart neckline goes head to head with room-to-grow capes and boxy jackets. And yet, every piece can be mixed and matched according to one’s sartorial mood, albeit rumpled or refined.

Milan Fashion Week Fall 2012: Gucci

by fashion pulse contributor

Gucci

There’s definitely omething Dracula-esque about Gucci’s Fall 2012 line; Frida Giannini contrived an esoteric feel with deep, opaque velvets contrasted against skin-showing slits and sheer gauzy blouses. The slouchy pants are the true standout piece lavishing a strong menswear mood. Nonetheless, Giannini knows how to formulate strong feminine dresses and skirts in somber velvets, luscious plums, and vivid greens. She didn’t dispense of color heavily, but subtly invoked a nocturnal theme with capes, military jackets and riding boots. The final looks left us yearning for more of that divine leopard jacquard. Magnificenza segreto!

Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week: Park Choon Moo, Son Jung Wan

by fashion pulse contributor

One of the most important aesthetics of Korean beauty is “Yeo Baek”, or “The Void.” With this in mind, explore a collection that combines emptiness and material, spiritual, and self. This may seem rather profound for a clothing line, but ParkChoonMoo produced something rather new in zen art for Fall 2012. The freedom of the clothing could be felt in alpaca fur shawls, organic cotton hooded dress, and silk skirts. Shifting color from white to black, the apparel took on a more paneled, dimensional appeal with over sized and wide leg pants with capes and coats.

Son Jung Wan

Against the backdrop of the snowy Saturday day, Son Jung Wan’s “oriental winter garden” couldn’t have been more perfect. Various fade-away grays and creams matched strong turquoise, python, white leather, and metallic. The cable knit panels and open crocheted knits felt equally as youthful as the leather shorts and silk skirts. Still, it was the detail that left an impression; gardens always create that limitless romantic and exaggerated effect, and Son Jung Wan’s interpretation bloomed effortlessly.

Stephen Burrows F/W 2009 Collection

by fashionpulse

00230mMr. Burrows is back! The collection for fall 2009, dubbed “Bankable Burrows” smartly captured the items that will lead women into future cold-weather seasons with ease, getting the most bang for their buck with quality investment pieces in the form of capes, unique prints, and well-tailored pants and skirts. To turn a blind eye to the current state of affairs would have one hearing the sound of cash registers ringing up sales even less frequently; Burrows understands the value of a solid, salable collection, yet doesn’t let it restrict his creativity or panache. The looks, complimented by Christian Louboutin leapard booties and Robert Lee Morris jewelry prove that classic design with a bit of a twist never goes out of style.
