I recently checked out C. Wonder in SoHo, as it had been garnering quite a bit of buzz lately, to see if under my scrutiny, it was the beginning of a great lifestyle brand at affordable prices. The store certainly can boast a large presence, with floor to ceiling shelving and an array of goods that range from women and men’s apparel to home decor, tableware, electronics, jewelry, and a monogramming section.
The founder, Chris Burch, is the ex-husband of designer Tory Burch, and in all honesty, you could feel a very Tory-esque vibe stamped in the layout, color scheme, and even visible in some of the products (they have ballet flats that really don’t look much different than the Reva flat). All in all, I would stop back to check out the wares at C.Wonder (you can also shop online), as I left empty handed on this day, but all in all, feel it was a strong, confident maiden voyage for a brand that has arose at a time when many companies are scaling back. Burch plans to roll out 20 more stores in 2012, so stay tuned for a C. Wonder near you. In the meanwhile, if you are in the area, check out the store — 72 Spring Street at Crosby, New York City, New York.
