Dry shampoo isn’t a completely new concept, however its profile has been raised to new standards in the past few years, which has worked out to the benefit of those of us who use the product frequently. With fine hair that needs a boost in-between washes, it’s hard to add up how many hours I’ve saved over the years from not having to wash, dry, and style thanks to it, but I can certainly tell you that it has been a god send when I notice I need a volume and oil-absorption boost in a pinch. There are so many great options at a variety of price points that I thought I’d feature a few that I’ve recently tried and would recommend:
Hair Food Sulfate Free Dry Shampoo (from $4.99 for the 1.7 oz bottle)
Infused with kiwi fragrance, this dry shampoo smells amazing, and let’s be honest; the fragrance in a product can be a total deal breaker. It’s also paraben and mineral oil free so that you don’t get deposits in your hair that can further weigh it down or mist out chemicals you’d rather do without. It adds just what you want it to – volume, texture, and hold.
Elizabeth and James NIRVANA Dry Shampoo (1.3 oz bottles, $14 each, 4.4. oz bottles, $28 each)
I wish that either 1) I would have thought of this first, and 2) more brands will follow in Elizabeth and James’ footsteps with introducing a dry shampoo that is part of a perfume’s ancillary products line. I have been putting dry shampoo in my hair, then spritzing my wrists with my favorite fragrance and rubbing it into my head, but it makes SO much sense to combine this into one item. It’s a light weight refresher of a dry shampoo that clearly adds in the brand’s scent; you can choose fromĀ Elizabeth and James NIRVANA Black or Elizabeth and James NIRVANA White scents.
Aussie Total Miracle Collection 7-N-1 (from $5.99 for the 4.9 oz bottle)
Mulitasking products, bring it on! I always have a soft spot in my heart for Aussie, asĀ I fondly remember it from when I was in high school, and this spray includes a hair refresh via new found fullness, color protection, a matte, textured finish, and a grape scent. Quite effervescent, indeed!
