Sunny Day Stripes

Finally, the winter weather has said farewell, and spring 2014 feels like it may officially be here. After a glorious weekend with spirits boosted up and down the east coast, it’s certainly time to bring out the lighter, filmy layers and enjoy the benefits of some concentrated Vitamin D thanks to the sun’s rays. Which also means my insanely sensitive eyes will permanently have sunnies over them, since when the sun is out, I am the most squint-y person you will ever see.

My look of the week is certainly weekend-appropriate, but can be made more office-appropriate by swapping out my cuffs for some delicate bangles, throwing on a softened black blazer, and switching out the sandals for closed-toe pumps.

What I’m really crushing on, hard, is these fabulous pants; from Athleta, they are a silky, movable, breathable fabric that not only are incredibly comfortable and chic, but the epitome of versatile. Athleta suggests wearing them for a studio workout, or for more leisurely purposes. I LOVE that they have a rating of UPF 50+ (Ultraviolet Protection Factor), which means that when I am outdoors, I am fully protected! The handsome tuxedo stripe down the sides (see pic below) enhances the fabric and overall aesthetic of making these into a workwear garment, or concealing the fact that perhaps you didn’t have time to shower and change after your early morning work out! Either way they are worn, I vouch for the fact that these pants are truly DIVINE!
