The Collection: Balmain Fall 2013
The Theme: A Glam Party Inspired by the Tales of One Thousand and One Nights
The Color Palette: White, silver, gold, pink, green, and black
About the Collection: Designer Olivier Rousteing got in touch with his maximalist side for fall, crafting strong silhouettes in bold colors in order to produce a nostalgic moment that harkened back to the flashy ’80s. The collection was comprised of jackets with prominent shoulder embellishment in a diamond-shaped pattern and paired with draped silk miniskirts or metallic harem pants. With these eye-catching jewel toned pieces, the Balmain girl will be able to outshine everyone wherever she roams.

The Collection: Vionnet Fall 2013
The Theme: Expertly draped modern Grecian dressing
The Color Palette: Black, white, yellow, green, and blue
About the Collection: It’s all about the folds at Vionnet; creative director Goga Ashkenazi stayed true to the house’s roots, crafting black suits and skirts with elaborate folds that allowed color to peep through while paying homage to Mademoiselle Vionnet’s skills as a dressmaker with loose Grecian-inspired dresses. Rounded shoulders on the blouses and jackets coupled with slim pants were cinched with a metal plated belt to create a form that was structured, yet loose at the same time. This lineup was a good start in making the historical house of Vionnet fresh and new for a new 21st century modern audience.
