The Show: Rafael Cennamo Fall 2013
The Theme: Versailles’ Hall of Mirrors
The Color Palette: Gold
Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Rafael Cennamo’s Fall collection has us entering a golden age of fashion. For his presentation, the models stood out so brightly in the dark room that it was truly mesmerizing. Golden satin, lace, taffeta, cashmere knits and layers upon layers of shimmering tulle weren’t exempt from the gilt treatment. Atop a few of the model’s heads were ornaments of clockwork and ornate headwear that the designer created using 3D printing that paid homage to the passage of time, a cited source of inspiration for Cennamo.
The presentation allowed show attendees to really get a close look at the intricate embroidery, draping and the different textures of each breathtaking piece. One covetable look in particular was a one shouldered embroidered lace dress that flared out at the bottom into a full skirt of tulle. It seems as though Rafael Cennamo took a page out of the tale of King Midas and decided to turn everything he touched to gold. Only in Cennamo’s case, the end results are certainly much more fortunate — and fabulous.
