After recently suffering a humiliating, yet hilarious “tancident,” which basically resulted in user error in application and color selection, I decided that it was time to find a self-tanning product that gradually produced a subtle glow, instead of a remarkably darker aesthetic, which also left a LOT of room for highly visible mistakes. All I ever wanted was some color on my legs, which never seems to happen, and always feel so ghastly pale to me. After testing a few gradual tanners, the best bet, for results AND value, ended up being extremely easy to identify. NIVEA’s Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs, about $7.99, in the hue of fair to medium skin seemed to be created specifically for my dilemma, as it gradually produces the slightest change in tone, without staining my hands, or any fabric I come into contact with after application.
[Getting the subtle glow, from left to right: after day 1, and after day 2]
I gave it a good test over the course of three days and although my legs were not noticeably darker, according to my best friend, I could tell that slight imperfections, and ahem, stubble, that I knew was there, was actually masked quite well. The formula is designated to moisturize quite well, and although there is a slight aroma of self-tanner, it doesn’t exude the same chemical or sunscreen-esque overload aroma that other self-tanners possess.
After each application, I did a triple check, but there wasn’t a single streak in sight, and my legs definitely looked and certainly felt hydrated, After that initial ‘tancident,’ I’m pretty sure I’d rather work toward building a great glow over the course of several days, instead of a potential self-induced tan mess, which this summer, resulted in me hiding my legs under long skirts and pants for a week!
I must include this in my shopping list! The effects is great, very intriguing. And by the way, I love your nail polish color. 🙂 Thanks!
