So… I broke my toe. The little, itty bitty pinky toe. It’s just a tiny little part of your body, but man, does it hurt, and throw off one’s balance. Let’s surpass all of the gritty details on how it came to be, and just know that it has been a challenge, shoe-wise to find something with enough cushion, support, and width without being frumpy. I’m (hopefully) a little more than halfway through the healing process, so in a few weeks I should be back to my normal footwear of choice (heels! wedges!), but other than that, I’ve been living in sneakers every possible moment that I can get away with wearing them. So I’ve been sitting on the sidelines when it comes to most activities, but sometimes that’s okay; there’s meditation, restorative yoga, Pilates; there’s a bevy of activities still good for my body and mind without too much toe-driven aggravation.
With the peak in temperature and then the rain making an appearance in NYC all week, I’ve started to wear my new Columbia jacket, inspired by 1980s designs but totally fresh for today, coupled with some casual elements like softened button up shirts and worn jeans. Also, I declare that it’s time to pull out your white handbag; it always adds a contemporary pop of brightness to renew your look, regardless of what you pair it with and the occasion.
