I’ve been doing a lot of testing these days but writing? Not so much. Here’s the lowdown on all of the fabulous, new items that I took for a test drive, and give two thumbs up for you to buy and try:
Skin in the summer oftentimes calls for a little something extra; if you think about it, being in the sun drastically, and quickly changes the skin’s texture and moisture level. It’s important to hydrate, and slough away dead skin cells during this time, and of course, Dove just gets it. The Limited Edition Dove Summer Care line comes in body wash or beauty bar form, smells zesty and citrusy (with vanilla and amber mixed in), and ever so lightly cleanses and exfoliates to further enhance your beautiful skin. I tested it out in the shower this morning, and it was so gentle that you barely even realize there’s some light exfoliation happening. Yes!
The Dove Limited Edition Summer Care will be available in food, drug, club, and online retailers this month, with the 22 fl oz body wash around $6.99, and a six-pack of beauty bars at $8.39.
Do you ever just want a more natural, effective deodorant option? I HEAR you! Especially in the warmer months, it’s crucial to stay dry and feel fresh, but can certainly pose a challenge. The Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant Sport Luxe in Vanilla Breeze, $16, is a super soft, aluminum-free formulation that features SmartSportTM Technology for high performance defense & nourishment.
Free of harsh chemicals, it possesses a slightly sporty, yet effervescent scent that combines white jasmine with honeydew, green apple and vanilla. Right now, it’s a steamy 90-degree day in NYC, and I just swiped on a touch up so that I can sit on my stoop with a neighbor getting a Vitamin D fix and hit the gym afterward without nary a thought of what my armpits may think about that!
Being of the freckly persuasion, I rarely, if ever, leave home without sunscreen on my face, although it can be tricky to find products that easily and quickly absorb into the skin and can have makeup layered on top of it to a smooth and perfect effect. Finding the ideal base layer of SPF that won’t leave your products butting heads is a must, and who know that the remedy could be found in a product that includes…yogurt! The Korres Suncare Yoghurt Nourishing Fluid Veil Face Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30,$35, has the miracle skin-repair ingredient of yogurt, while rice and camapu extract moisturize and quell the skin while out in the sun.
Pretty cool, right? This formula is also the epitome of sheer, encouraging you to wear your foundations, powders, BB and CC creams on top of it. And in case you needed one more reason to try this, it’s also free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
I’ve got to give credit when credit is due: my mom introduced me to the Davines line of products, and every time I’m at my parents house, I look forward to using all of her items from the brand! Now I have my own, with the Minu line, that features Sicilian caper blossoms and includes a shampoo, conditioner, hair mask and hair serum designated for color-treated hair. It is filmy and light, yet leaves my locks ultra lustrous without weighing them down. And it probably goes without saying, but the packaging is minimalist and modern, while the product itself just smells fantastic. The Minu haircare products by Davines ranges from $23-$32 each, available at fine retailers and salons nationwide.
Are you a FitBit fanatic? Once you’ve got one…it’s kind of hard not to be! Design.UX adds a fashion element with covers that slide over your device’s wristband and come in a array of colors so you can better conceal, or show off your FitBit to match your watch, jewelry, or outfit. I’m sporting the FitBit Flex, which comes in a pack of three covers for $19.99, but Design.UX also makes them sized for the FitBit Charge, JawboneUp, and UP24.
