It’s not every day that you get to share your honeymoon with…all of the readers of a major publication! I’m so thrilled that our story and imagery was selected to represent an example of a great Hawaiian honeymoon in The Knot‘s fall 2014 national edition. This was such a perfect commemoration of our one-year anniversary, as exactly a year prior to the day, we were on a beach in Hawaii, sipping on Mai Tais!
If you haven’t been to Hawaii yet, please do add it to the top of your travel bucket list, as the majestic beauty, delicious, fresh food, and friendly people of the islands makes for quite a memorable experience. We managed to stay on budget by cashing in a ton of credit card points/miles that had been accumulating for a year and a half, redeemed toward on our flights and car rentals, and we would occasionally pick up food from the grocery store and cook meals or bring food with us during our stay.
See below for the page dedicated to our honeymoon, along with the not-to-miss pic of me digging right into the coffee beans (Don’t worry, it’s sanitary! Visitors were allowed to touch a special section of the beans on the coffee tour). For more pics from our “big event,” check out the edited selection of our wedding photos, featured in The Knot’s “real weddings” section.
A hint of fall is in the air, and with the new six piece collection from essie, your digits will get the crisp weather palette treatment in no time! “This collection is for the international woman of mystery who’s confident and confidential all rolled into one seductive creature,” states brand founder, Global Creative Director, and namesake, Essie Weingarten. The six fabulous colors, per usual, have perfectly cheeky names such as (from clockwise): Style Cartel, Fall in Line, The Perfect Cover Up, Take it Outside, Partner in Crime, and Dress to Kilt.
As you can see from the pic above (taken against one of my favorite looks from the Bergdorf Goodman pre-fall 2014 collections catalog), these shades work perfectly to the tune of fall colors and textures. Which one is your favorite? Each bottle retails for $8.50, available starting in September of 2014 at essie.com, fine salons, and beauty destinations nationwide.
Don’t you just love “before and after” pics? I certainly do, and had the opportunity to update my look courtesy of Sassoon Salon, JUST in time for New York Fashion Week! I’ve been to both locations in New York City, and the service and styling has always been consistently stellar! This time around, I went for a special evening of cuts and blowouts for us Style Coalition members during the Sassoon Salon’s exclusive fall beauty event, which also satisfied style-seeking taste buds with salon-themed cupcakes and delectable treats. My consultation and cut was artfully executed by Antonio Pagano, Sassoon’s East Coast Regional Salon Director, who worked with me to figure out a slight update (long side swept bangs) within my comfort zone. After the precision cut was complete, Antonio finished off the style by flat ironing my hair, and although I have the tools at home, I forgot how great it can look, even if you already have stubbornly straight hair like me. Per usual, I had a blast, confidently exiting the salon with my long, shiny locks, slightly tweaked to enhance the sophistication. Stay tuned for more information shortly on Sassoon’s latest seasonal collection, that always marries fashion with innovative cuts and color. It’s no secret that I’m a fiend for all things olive, and probably consume an unusually high amount of the fabulous fruit on a weekly basis. Since it’s been going on my body, I’ve also enjoyed the hydrating and antioxidant benefits from a beauty perspective, featuring a variety of products over the years, ranging from soap to haircare and face serum. Testing out the Phyto-C SUPERHEAL™ O-Live Serum ($130) and the Phyto-C SUPERHEAL™ O-Live Cream ($120) have been a joy, as there are a myriad of benefits found in each product, derived from an ancient remedy that has certainly held the test of time.
I’m so used to seeing white-hued beauty products, however the O-Live Cream possesses a taupey hue, perfectly in line with its olive leaf extract formulation. It helps to calm skin and reduce redness and irritation while hydrating skin and working toward building cell regeneration. The serum also has a bunch of useful properties, from protection against UV damage to fighting the signs of aging, scar tissue, and even stretch marks, while smoothing the skin’s surface int he process. You can also choose from an O-live lotion, gel, and mask, all exhibiting awesome healing power for a variety of skin conditions and issues.
