Throughout my entire life, regardless of where I’ve lived, what I’ve done, or been into, I’ve always worn some variation of a turtleneck or corduroy pants. Bonus that they’re back in fashion now, but I’d still wear them nonetheless. I actually didn’t realize how comfortable I felt in them, or had a life-long commitment to the styles until recently, which made me think about a bit more about what comprises a signature style. If someone were to draw a caricature of you today, what sartorial elements would be found in it that would clearly identify you?
Maybe mine would have cords or a turtleneck in it, but certainly attention-grabbing eyeglasses, fine red hair, and a strong pop of color or vibrancy, most likely coming from a piece of jewelry. Speaking of, with the exception of my ring, all the baubles found in this look are from Rocksbox, a subscription jewelry service that for just $19 a month, you can sample different styles, hold onto them for as long as you want, and if you’d like to buy them, you can do so at a discount. So far I’ve been impressed with the selections and packaging that is certainly in line with my style.
In this look, I took my mom’s advice and got a pair of blue frames to perfectly contrast with my red tresses, sporting this particular pair courtesy of Firmoo. You can get your first pair from the retailer for FREE via this link (choose from select frames).
So far, the year is off to a fresh start, with a new haircut (I lost seven inches!) and some great accessories. Here’s to a happy and stylish 2015!

Love this outfit Julia. I love how you make a turtleneck something more special with the necklace. 🙂
Thanks so much Andrea! I can’t believe that only recently I had the idea to do it! 😉
