I have a soft spot in my heart for Clarks, and when pressed as to the reason why, it’s hard to pin point it exactly, but has a lot to do with the loyalty to its heritage as a brand and style, and the openness to the addition of new styles, while remaining true to its core competency of comfort. What I took in for spring 2016 far exceeded my expectations when it came to the fashion quotient of the brand, but could easily tell that no compromises were made when it comes to ensuring a proper fit and all-day footwear support.

Eye-catching prints, as part of a collaboration with the Victoria & Albert Museum in London were hard to miss, dressing up ’60s mod-inspired styles, while some of my most favorites for spring were found in a pastel palette, softening the brand’s approach to its take on the menswear trend. With this collection, Clarks has catapulted itself into the category of truly offering something from every one, on any occasion that may deem that wearing shoes is a must! There’s nothing that kicks off a new fall season better than a shiny new pair of stylish, warm, high-quality boots, and Sorel certainly fits that description! Come and pay a visit to the Sorel Flagship Store in New York City’s Meatpacking District (located at 345 West 14th Street) this Thursday, October 8th from 7-9pm for the launch party, a chance to check out the latest and greatest in the brand’s footwear offerings for women and men, plus a look at the debut of the apparel collection. The launch party is hosted by costume designer Jenn Rogien, who has most recently created the costumes for the HBO hit series “GIRLS,” and equally as popular Netflix original series “Orange is the New Black.” The ultra cool, stylish, and personable Rogien will also be giving a short talk and Q&A session during the event, so if there’s anything you’ve ever wanted to ask a costumer designer of a hit show…now’s your chance !

The Ultimate Desert Oasis: Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado Santa Fe

I think that it’s only fair to admit that after last weekend, my expectations of a relaxing, resort getaway are forever change. For starters, I have a newfound appreciation of being near, but not in the center of, the action. My stay at Four Seasons Rancho Encantado Santa Fe, located about 10 minutes from the heart of Santa Fe, New Mexico, left me reveling in its breathtaking beauty, nestled among the desert flora and fauna, with unobstructed views for miles, while its services and accommodations were the epitome of true hospitality and relaxation.

As this marked my first visit to a Four Seasons site, I was most eager to try the renowned cuisine and head to the spa’s treatment rooms, which kicked off my stay at the resort even before I checked in. The treatment rooms were inspired by Pueblo Indian kiva rooms, which felt intimate and luxurious at once. My massage was one of the best I’ve ever had, while the relaxing continued afterward via the private courtyard with a hot tub and sauna.

My best friend Jeff, who was traveling with me, didn’t receive a treatment, but as a guest, was still able to indulge in the spa’s courtyard facilities. After a quick shower, we reconvened in the gorgeous dining space of Terra Restaurant for a five-course dinner and wine pairing experience, selected by the James Beard Award nominee for “Best Chef: Southwest,” Chef Andrew Cooper. The food was a seamless blend of traditional American and local flavors, starting off with a chive, chile, and corn soup, followed by salad, scallops, salmon, lamb chops, and a sumptuous array of miniature desserts. I had assumed the food to be good, and the wine excellent, but this was on another level of deliciousness.

Lately on the blog there’s been a lot of talk of what to expect for holiday, and as difficult as it can be about thinking about Christmas in July, it’s inevitable that it, and the cold weather, will be here before we know it! Once it draws closer, I will do a roundup and refresher of these collections and products so that you don’t have to remember this far back what you loved from Athleta, but in the meanwhile, isn’t it exciting to take a peak into the future?

For holiday 2015, Athleta continues along with offering favorite customer styles and silhouettes, revamped and enhanced with even better fabrications and designs than ever before.  A master of must-have prints, expect some new blockbusters, like the introduction of shimmer, along with the “Superimpose” print (seen here), ombré striped tights, and a vibrant cobalt color taking center stage.

Per usual, choose from high, medium, or low support, depending on your body’s needs and activities, and expect even more from the Unstinkable Technology and wicking Velocitek  fabrics. For more casual, athleisure/athletic-inspired lifestyle pieces, shop for yourself or for gifts in the realm of  cashmere or merino sweaters, “lumberJill” shirts, softer than soft beanies, and lighter than light winter jackets featuring synthetic insulation (for quicker drying if they get wet).

Last but not least, holiday will usher in the second collection of Derek Lam 10 C for Athleta, which has an incredible mixed media leather jacket, soft and nubby sweaters, color blocked long sleeve tops, sleek pants, and even a pair of New Balances especially designed by Lam for the brand.
