Heritage is everything, and there are a handful of brands that have it, and utilize it well. Taking the opportunity to progress and convert a brand’s most important, iconic signatures into contemporary styling is essential to its continued growth and popularity, which is evident in the Woolrich White line for men and women, launching this fall/winter 2014. Woolrich, dubbed “the original outdoor clothing company” is based in my home state of Pennsylvania, and it’s operating woolen mill has been given the title as the oldest vertically integrated operating woolen mill in the USA. The new White line uses the all-important wool fiber to create modern shapes and styles with a focus on outerwear and vest, however sportswear is also covered, with a well-edited selection of items. True to its roots, you can be on the look out for the literal white label, which boasts the made in the USA label, with wool coming from that historic Pennsylvania mill.
With accessories of course holding the strong hold on Fashion Pulse Daily, previewing the new footwear line was a must, which incorporates wool on the inside and out in a variety of hip silhouettes and high quality detailing found in the stitching and even inclusion of VIBRAM for high performance, ultra-light, outsoles. Some of the styles in the four debut womens footwear collections (Tomboy, Engineer, Explorer, Suffragette) have strong unisex appeal, while others are very clearly for the ladies. See the slideshow for my favorites, which also include some great bags, from tote to duffel, and of course, Woolrich woolen blankets too, still made at the mill!
