The best way to do it is with an accessory, like a handbag or shoe that represents the trend, then moving onto larger scale items. i.e. garments, when you feel that the trend is right for you. The most important take away from fall/winter 2015 is that the ’70s are back in a MAJOR way. It’s really quite incredible how evident it was across many of the collections this season, and in fact, most of the trends spotted for the season are a take off what was popular during that very decade.
Designers Rebecca Minkoff, Reem Acra, and Dennis Basso sited 70s-ish inspiration, be it an icon (Patti Smith; Stevie Nicks); or the overall glamour from the era. There was a fair share of bohemia abounding, looking best and feeling most modern when it was restrained and paired with realistic silhouettes without feeling too costumey and decade-decadent.
