Fall 2012 Fashion Week: Mugler

Trust me, you will go Gaga over Mugler’s Fall 2012 collection, as every piece was complicatedly designed and fashioned together in a way that only two modern geniuses could come up with. Creative director Nicola Formichetti and Mugler’s head of women’s designer, Sébastien Peigné took a step into the future with asymmetrical looks, modern peplums, and a lot of edge. Clean and sleek looks came down the runway in the most luxe of materials, such as fox fur and leather. Sheer black fabrics and playful fringe also made a debut for a sexy, yet playful addition. Formichetti and Peigné did not forget to put some bright colors within their collection to brighten up your fall looks, as they included a vibrant red jumpsuit and a tangerine dress with a high slit.

Paris Fashion Week SS12: Balenciaga, Balmain, Mugler

Balenciaga

The show began with short shorts and boxy shoulders, with jackets reminiscent of  high school letterman varsity jackets. Nothing says Balenciaga more than strong shapes, so not suprisingly, Nicolas Ghesquière drew a bit from the past as well as androgyny, paving a distinctive spring 2012 path with high shine fabrics,color-blocking, and asymmetry.

Balmain

Pastel blue, black leather, a floral motif and delicate embroidery can seem so contradictory, yet young talent Olivier Rousteing blended them together for a gorgeous union. For SS12, Balmain kept the short hem and body-hugging dresses, but slowly introduced sweeping maxis and trousers as well.

Mugler

With Lady Gaga on board, Thierry Mugler may just have created its own set of provocative little monsters.  There was a fair share of cutouts and a great deal of sparkle, however balance was maintained in the neutral wash of the color palette. Still, we wouldn’t mess with a Mugler woman- she’s tough, strong, and certainly knows what she wants.

Support Breast Cancer and Check Out These Special-Edition Products!

This October beauty companies across the world are launching bold campaigns to bring awareness to breast cancer. Check out these amazing new products and help support this fantastic cause!

Arcona is introducing a limited editon pink version of their Magic White Ice; they are calling it Magic Pink Ice! This lightweight daily hydrating gel moisturizes without clogging the pores and keeps the skin fresh and glowing. For each bottle sold two dollars will go to support Cancer and Careers!

Thierry Mugler will be donating all the proceeds from the sale of the Womanity Bath and Body Collection to benefit Look Good Feel Better, a free support group that helps people with cancer improve their appearance and self-esteem so that they can manage their treatment and recovery with greater confidence. The collection includes perfumed shower gel, body milk, and body cream.

Lauren Merkin is partnering with the Young Survival Coalition to support Breast Cancer Awareness and together they have designed an exclusive edition of their popular Diana clutch. The clutch is made from a pink studded lambskin with Swarovski crystals and could not be more stunning!  Fifty percent of the proceeds from this bag will be donated to the YSC, a group that works with cancer survivors and communities to help increase the quality of life for young women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Polo Ralph Lauren will mark the 10th anniversary of the Pink Pony, the company’s global enterprise to raise awareness and fund in support of breast cancer. To kickoff the awareness campaign Polo Ralph Lauren will announce the first global Pink Pony Online Auction partnering with charitybuzz. The auction with showcase over two hundred unique items and experiences, and one hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the Pink Pony Fund of Polo Ralph Lauren. They will also be selling limited edition luxury pieces such as an alligator Ricky handbag, an alligator Cooper Check Book Wallet, an alligator cuff with Cooper Lock, and the Ralph Lauren Stirrup Timepiece, also benefiting the Pink Pony Fund. Also being launched this month is the “Text to Give” campaign that will allow everyone to join this worldwide initiative; by texting PINKPNY to 501501, ten dollars with be donated to benefit the Pink Pony Fund.

Tory Burch is definitely doing her part to help find a cure this month by donating fifteen percent from every purchase of her limited edition umbrella and rain boots. These fun accessories are so bright and delightful, the perfect thing for the start of fall!

beyonce-mtv-europeUsually stage costumes for performing artists tend to look just plain costumey and way way too over-the-top, with revealing being the #1 element, and fishnets a must. Britney has succumbed to this trend over and over again, and even our beloved Madonna has occasionally gone down this path (although for the most part, Madonna can do no wrong). Enter Thierry Mugler, however, and Beyonce’s dual personality, Sasha Fierce, and something just clicks. His hard meets soft body clinching garments for Beyonce’s world tour juxtaposes Beyonce’s alter-ego with the world of theatrics and voila! Futuristic, fabulous costumes are born.
