Just as fall is about to begin, New York Fashion Week is taking us past the colder seasons and right into Spring/Summer 2017. There are still plenty of shows to come, but key trends for the next summer season are already making themselves known. Long, effortless silhouettes, eccentric prints, and monochromatic looks all make the list, but many designers are choosing to showcase one of the most classic, and uber-girly trends of them all: ruffles. Jill Stuart took a well-fitting, subtle and modern approach in her most recent collection, showing her signature black and white looks with complementing ruffle detailing. Contrasting that was found in Brock Collection, whose use of bold ruffle detailing on the slits of midi skirts made a huge statement on the runway.
Creatures of Comfort and Marissa Webb went with perhaps the most attractive route to this trend seen thus far, and chose to incorporate smaller ruffles into blouses and breezy sundresses. Ruffles played a key role in Webb’s collection, who reiterated before her show that she aims to dress the New York, modern, feminine woman. Click through the slideshow above to see more of how this season’s designers incorporated the ruffle trend into their collections, a look that will surely make its way into your summer wardrobe, if it isn’t there already.

Recently Lanvin unveiled its newest and arguably best yet fragrance, Éclat de Fleurs, which epitomizes femininity with both floral and fruity notes. FPD took in the featured and most prominent scent elements at the launch event last week, which include pear, a bouquet of flowers, white musk, and sandalwood. This fragrance follows the 2002 release of Eclat de Arpège, inspire by the bond between house founder Jeanne Lanvin and her daughter.
This previous fragrance was used as further inspiration for Éclat de Fleurs, which is described by the brand as “feminine, fresh, and spontaneous, that gives off both lightness and joy.” The aim is to give the impression of a sunny spring afternoon, which it certainly does, in full sensory aromas. The bottle features a carved out flower, resembling the marguerite, which is also the name of Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter. The fragrance is priced at $82 for the 1.7 oz. size, and $105 for the 3.3 oz., and is available now exclusively at Nordstrom.

Mirrored Collection
G-Aviation
Go Green Collection
Even with today’s reliance on cell phones as a means to tell time, a statement-making watch is still a must, even if it is just to make a fashion statement. Casio’s new G Shock Spring Collection has three new functional, classic, and ever fashionable watch collections. The G-Aviation preserves its classic style but has a new cockpit inspired display with yellow and black accents. If you are more of the “green is a must” kind of gal, the Go Green Collection features an environmentally friendly collection that uses solar power technology and recycled paper packaging. The last installment of the G Shock is the Mirrored Collection; these watches feature chic metallic finishes in an array of fun spring colors while being water resistant, shock resistant, and of course tell the time! I know I can’t wait to get my hands on a white Mirrored Collection watch –but which one is your favorite?

Cynthia Steffe
Cynthia Steffe presented a Spring 2011 Collection perfectly suited for everyday wear. Each garment was contemporary yet retro, giving traditional shapes a modern twist. Ranging from bright pinks, blues, and greens, to earthy browns, Steffe created pieces in eye catching hues, fit for nearly any occasion. Comprised of fabrics with a sleek, sporty feel, the clothing was casual, but still extremely fashion forward! While the collection included many menswear-inspired looks, the loose-fitting tops, cutout shoulders, and slit backs kept the clothing feeling very feminine.

Vassilios Kostetsos
Vassilios Kostetsos took the audience on an amazing adventure through ancient Greece with his dazzling Spring 2011 Collection. With Grecian prints, exaggerated shoulders, and armor-inspired pieces, this collection was made for the strong, audacious individual. The lustrous silk materials, intricate beading, and metallic colors gave the clothing a royal quality, making each garment really shine on the runway. Kostetsos showed a tendency towards figure hugging dresses with an emphasis on the shoulders and neckline, as well as long fluid trains. Even swimwear made an appearance in this collection that truly had it all!
