I’ve been in a very big fitness state-of-mind, and really what could be better? Well…maybe also kicking my addiction to French fries, but in the interim, I’ve been enjoying a membership to Booya Fitness and the title of influencer in its SweatSquad, where I can do a variety of fitness classes from the comfort of my home, or in my hotel room on my travels. I was just in Florida for a long weekend and already missing my normal yoga routine, and I can only imagine how I will feel when I’m in Japan for the next two weeks! The site includes an extensive library of videos to try, ranging in category from yoga, barre and Pilates to dancing, cardio kickboxing, strength conditioning, and more.
What’s unique about it are two things: 1) the great price- it’s $8.25-$9.99 per month, depending on your monthly commitment with a free 30-day trial, and 2)it’s partnered with highly reputable studios, trainers and instructors to bring you well-taught, quality classes. A few of them I’ve already visited in-person (Chaise Fitness, David Barton Gym, Core Pilates NYC) so it’s great to have a similar experience from the convenience of home without having to get on the subway to rush to a class on time. Sometimes the hardest part of working out is just getting to the gym, so now that you won’t have to do that anymore thanks to Booya Fitness…there’s no excuse-let’s get moving!
“Your hair is now our hassle;” — thank goodness, someone is willing to finally take it on! That’s the mantra at Glam&Go, a premier blow out experience that offers a la carte services (from $25-$60) such as dry styling, braiding, updos and full-on wash and style blow outs, or memberships. Ranging from $99/month for the express hair styling or $125/month for the blow out option, there’s no reason to ever buy shampoo again! That may be a bit of a stretch, but with convenient locations in fitness studios and gyms sprinkled throughout New York City and Miami, having great looking locks, especially after a hard work out, becomes like second nature. Thinking that the worst of winter was already behind us wasn’t exactly accurate, as colder temperatures and snow is on the horizon for the next few days. From a skincare perspective, adding and locking in hydration is key, as dry skin becomes quite a prevalent issue to combat in the colder months. As dry skin is immediately evident in both its look and feeling, it becomes crucial to do as much as possible to make it go away. One of the easiest things you can do is incorporate nourishment into your existing routine, and the Dove Dry Oil Beauty Bar provides just that. Infused with Moroccan Argan Oil, the Dove Dry Oil formula promises to make dry skin softer and smoother after just one wash and is available in a bar (2 pack for $3.79) or body wash form (22 fl. oz. for $6.99). Why not get some help in defeating winter dry skin without spending any extra time in the process? Getting in a good work out on a regular basis is an excellent way to promote a healthy mind/body balance, and being able to spend some time doing it with a friend makes everything exponentially better, and bearable, when the workout feels like it is the ultimate test of willpower and endurance. My bestie Jeff and I recently rode side by side last week at SWERVE Fitness, a cycling studio that I’ve enjoyed visiting on and off for the past year, that focuses on pushing yourself to do your personal best, as well as for your team. Each section of bikes denotes a team color, with a scoreboard in live time displaying how well you are racing each other in a group, as well as which bike number takes the #1 spot to be the leader. I was just happy to be getting some exercise, hanging with a friend, and trying to do my best to keep up, whereas my friend Jeff loved the competitive nature of the class and was vying for that #1 spot! Later this month SWERVE will be opening its second studio in midtown, located conveniently on West 46th Street, which means Jeff is going to snag that #1 spot, and I’m going to cheer him on as I peddle away at his side!SWERVE Fitness is located at 30 West 18th Street (between 5th and 6th Avenues) in New York City, with classes starting as early as 5:15am and as late as 7:30pm. Check out the website for more information, and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
