Fashion week is always the marker to update my beauty look, be it hair cut, color, eyebrow shaping, or even a simple manicure and pedicure. This time around, I received the royal treatment – a hair cut from the Sassoon Salon  on 56th Street- ooh la la! Anderson La, my amicable and and thorough stylist, reassured me that although I wasn’t feeling adventurous enough to lob a foot of hair off that day, that I would still be getting a signature Sassoon cut, since it comes done to the precision and style of hair design.

And precise, Anderson was; just when you think there are only a handful of options for long hair, seeing an expert stylist will reveal plenty more! For my style, Anderson only took up a tiny bit in length, cleaned it up evenly in the back, and created a nice halo of a layer at the nape of the neck for added volume and dimension. In the front, he truly cared for every single strand of hair framing me face, making sure the length I was left with accentuated my strong draw line in the best way possible. The cut was in no way rushed, which was split up into two parts: I was first shampooed and had a mix of hydrating and color-treated hair treatment by Kérastase put in and Anderson then cut it wet.

Next, the treatment was rinsed out, and Anderson dried and perfected the cut, then blew-dry and styled my hair with a flat iron, first straightening it out then added in some loose waves. If I dare say, my hair received the revamp that it needed to make it stylishly through New York Fashion Week!

Although this wasn’t my first time at Sassoon, the experience sure reinforced the value of connecting with a stylist who has perfected his/her technique, and in this instance, in the Sassoon way.  The stylists at Sassoon Salon are constantly challenged to stay on the latest news and trends in haircare, as well as incorporating new techniques into their current repertoire. The latest collection, “Constructivist,” is inspired by the art movement of the same name from the early twentieth century, and emphasizes the symmetry of  and color in tandem, utilizing the Sassoon long-standing philosophy of logic and iconic geometry in hair cutting.  Colors introduced in this collection create both compliments and contrasts, like cool and warm browns, pieces of copper and iridescent, opaline blonde with soft lilac, silver and pale grey.
