My favorite time of the year has arrived! To kick off New York Fashion Week 2011, Fashion’s Night Out has plenty of exclusive events and after-hours fun! The countless number of events can almost be overwhelming, however, Fashion Pulse Daily is going to share some of our favorites! Sally Hansen knows that we need things on-the-go. So you’ve now got ten impeccable nails – now keep them that way. Another on-the-go product is the  14-day Nail Shield, a set of pre-treated sheer color strips that instantly stick to your nails for protection and strength. I’ve tried them on myself, and despite my clumsiness, each strip took me only one second. It’s as simple as peeling, sticking and pulling the unused end off.

On top of everything I’ve mentioned, the cutest product I saw at the preview was the Insta-Smooth Pods Creme Hair Remover for Face. Designed so that your hands won’t have to touch the hair remover cream at all, these pods only ask for your effort to bend them. That’s it: bend it, and the cream comes out from the soft pads on the other side. These individual-use pods are good for last-minute touch-ups and traveling – in short, good for anyone constantly on the road, busy around the clock, or just anyone who wants to keep their hands clean!

Initially I had my reservations about spray foundation; it could potentially be very messy, and very different than what I’ve been used to with the traditional liquid foundations. My Mom has used the expensive Dior Airflash Spray foundation ($60), but I was equipped with the $13.99 Airbrush Spray Makeup from Sally Hansen. Although the natural inclination would be to just spray it directly onto your face, DON’T DO IT! Unless you’re naked or want to dowse your clothes in spray foundation, I’d recommend spraying it onto your hand, or onto a sponge instead. For more helpful tips, check out this video at Stylist.com coincidentally by Carmindy, Sally Hansen’s consultant and resident beauty expert.  Back to the product: I tested it out in “light”, and the major observations I made were: 1) I didn’t really need that much spray to get all-over coverage, and 2) the foundation seemed to blend better into my skin, opposed to sitting on top of it like some other regular foundations tend to do. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this Spray Foundation, which is also paraben free,  with olive oil extract, chamomile and Vitamin A.

I’ve never really been a person to wear holiday sweaters or the designated colors for each passing event (red, white & blue for the 4th of Juliy, red & green for Christmas, etc), however I will slightly alter my beauty regimen to bring a little holiday cheer into my look. This year, it revolves around fall/winter nail polish colors – I won’t be caught without a shade of metallic or purple on my fingers and toes! Metallics are relatively festive and have been looking incredibly smooth and much more fluid than they have in years past – my  two favorites are Tracy Reese for  Sally Hansen’s “Stormy Blue” and the N.Y.C. New York Color Metro Metals Collection in a deep metallic shade that slightly resembles gravel or extremely dark sand.  As far as purple polish goes – I will settle for practically any shade! I particularly love the medium hues, sans sparkle or sheen — matte colors are definitely preferred.  On my wish list are the  “O.P.I Purple with a Purpose” and Sephora’s L18 Raisin shade.
