Kate and Laura Mulleavy’s inspiration for this season’s Rodarte collection was undoubtedly the American Plains. The color palette was neutral and earthy-with the exception of the bright red show closer.
Though Target’s designer collaboration line with Rodarte won’t be available to the public until December 20th, those of you located in New York are in for a special treat!

Target will unveil their holiday pop-up store in the Meatpacking District – “Target To-Go” – on the corner of Ganesvoort and Washington Streets on December 11-13th from 10am-8pm.

Among the selections at Target To-Go? Select pieces from Rodarte for Target! All in all, the shop will feature 50 “giftable items,” including toys and beauty products. Shoppers will have the opportunity to walk up to the “gifting truck,” where they order their items and receive a pre-wrapped gift in return.

Those who get there early enough will be the first to get their hands on five anticipated items from the collection. I’m most excited about the coral slip dress ($39.99), but those willing to brave the crowds and the cold can also find the sequin ribcage dress ($49.99), the black halter dress ($39.99), and two different versions of the bow belt ($12.99 each).

We hear Rachel Bilson is going to be around celebrating the opening on December 11th around 10am as well…

What if working in fashion was always as frenetic as fashion week? I would have to say “no thanks” in that case!

Here they are — the day 5 show reviews — it was a busy one!

Marc by Marc Jacobs:

Not surpsigingly it was an 80s-inspired collection, complete with oversized hipster eyeglasses, Buster Brown hats, colorful scarves, and great bags.

ChoCheng:

Colorful riding coats and pastel satin gowns strongly pervaded Cho Cheng’s debut at fashion week.

MaxAzria:

Darker than the BCBG collection, the signature line featured sculptural jackets, deconstructed tunics, leather and metallics that stated it’s time to think about the future of fashion.

Domenico Vacca:

Very Italian suits, sexy cuts, and visible applique lent its way to making a strong showing in the tents; fashion Italian style still rules!

Rodarte:

True to form, the Rodarte sisters expiremented with a mixture of inspirations, resulting in a distinctive, hand-crafted, yet couture aesthetic.

G Star:

Leathers, buckles, and creamy shades of grey invaded the G Star runway at Hammerstein ballroom; we only wish those drop-crotch pants weren’t so drop crotch — I have a feeling they would make me look even shorter than I already am!

Tibi:

Prints to covet, in silhouettes to love seemed to be Amy Smilovic’s moto for the fall 2009 collection.

Narciso Rodriquez:

A bit sombre, however signature Narciso sleekness prevailed; no wonder the First Lady prefers his collection! Loved the peachy pink dresses; definitely the highlight of the collection (let’s try not to think about the weird head gear, shall we?)

There’s just so much to love about this look — the soft versus hard elements, the amazing color palette, the sculptural bodice of the Grecian-inspired dresses. Laura and Kate Mulleavy are no one-hit wonder, and you can surely tell by the distinct looks in their Spring/Summer 2009 collection that this sister designing duo are certainly here to stay. The collection overall expressed a sense of cohesiveness rarely found this season, traveling from lightness to darkness with a sense of laid-back ease.
