Theme: For the Modern Woman
Color Palette: Black, cream, various shades of brown, yellow, and green
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: To pinpoint a single signature style from the AKRIS SS13 collection would be nearly impossible; with over 90 different looks, the label featured outfits from full length mesh dresses, deep v and asymetrical necklines, 70’s-esque ultra suede and leather skirts and simple creme linen pantsuits. Although designer Albert Kreimler stated his intention was to “design for the modern woman”, his collection held both avant-garde and retro fashions.
Show: Hermès Spring/Summer 2013
Theme: Electic
Color Palette: Bright Patterns and Neutrals
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: With eccentric patterns, trench coats, and classic staples, Hermès produced a collection like nothing ever seen before. With all of the diverse styles, the most original was definitely shorts showcasing extended leather pockets. One look included the shorts in black paired with a matching collared button down, skinny brown suspenders and fingerless brown leather gloves. It resembled a craftsman’s attire, however in a fashionablely luxe way.
Show: Givenchy Spring/Summer 2013
Theme: A modern spin on ’60s couture
Color Palette: Black and white with baby blue and blush accents
Best/Collection’s Signature Standout Look: Although the column gowns, billowed sleeves, and ruffled necklines were breathtaking, the metal chokers were what really set the show apart. The dresses and pantsuits were soft and elegant, but paired with a thick gold metal choker turned the entire look into a modern, edgy ensemble. One of the best looks was an asymmetrically-sleeved, powder blue dress with a ruffled neckline and thick silver choker. The dress itself epitomized women’s ’60s fashion, while the choker, hair and makeup made it extremely contemporary.
