Paul Mitchell the brand got its start in the 1980s with only three products. Fast forward about three decades later, and the brand’s unique hair care vision is still going strong. Luxury hair care at an affordable price is a revolution we can all embrace, as well as a commitment to our planet, as Paul Mitchell plans to always sustain a culture of giving and caring.
In the spirit of caring, I have to share with you, our dear readers, about the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi wild ginger products. I abuse my hair with the blow dryer regularly, but now that summer has arrived, I would rather go for that spontaneous, “I-just-got-off-the-beach” look. It was time to give the Hydrocream Whip Mousse a go. I have long, thick wavy hair, and have tried just about every product out there, and I can say this is hands down one of the absolute best I have tried!
My hair looked and felt healthy, had the perfect amount of curl and volume, and NEVER got that crunchy look that makes me cringe. The Texturizing Sea Spray ($14.37 at drugstore.com) was also ideal for a more tousled, loose look. It enhanced my waves in a way that was just so lush and natural.
I couldn’t wait to sample the rest of the line. I HAD to try the Keratin Intensive Treatment ($19.99), a deep conditioning protein blend for intense hydration. I let it soak in my hair for a few minutes before rinsing out. After, my. hair. felt. like. silk. My locks were rejuvenated, AND I’m also obsessed with how it smells!
The Awapuhi Farm and Nature Retreat in Hawaii promotes “sustainable living at its finest,” and was established 25 years ago by Paul Mitchell and John Paul DeJoria in search of something different. The two decided on growing the wild ginger plant, a plant that natives had been using for centuries to soften and condition hair.
Beautify your summer hair, and ask yourself: how could you simplify your lifestyle and promote a more nature-based style of living?
